Maubs plays second row and backup centre. Liu plays second row and backup lock. Verrills plays with his yang yang and backup hooker.

If Jake covers hooker and lock, then we have freed up two bench spots for the best available forwards. There are a number of other options for backup centre.

Lets see, his old man is a Parra supporter ,his old man is best mates with the sponsor owner ...old man has been niggling him to go .
      I value Verills
I am dissapointed in his form this year looks disinterested.
Maybe needs to to start in a few games.
Come on Sam you know where the premiership rings are lined up at.

He'd be sitting on the bench at Parra, too.

As for looking disinterested, he's played stints of 15, 20, 16, and 22 mins respectively from rnds 1-4 for a grand total of 73 minutes. I don't think you can come to a conclusion of disinterest from that.

Verrills could be a utility player.

I've come around to the thinking that Jake Friend deserves to play 300 games for this club and go out on his own terms. He's obviously a true heart and soul legend and if we were to waiver in our loyalty to him then that'd potentially eat away at the amazing culture within the club.

If it costs us Verrills then so be it. But hopefully he's willing to hang around until Jake hangs up the boots; which I predict to be the end of 2022. Just a guess.

He'll be 32, 300+ games and will have led us to 5 straight Premierships. Quite a way to go out.
                  Very well said Tommy.

Radley hates playing hooker and is more effective as a running ball playing back rower anyway. So the cupboard is bare if Friend gets injured.

Plus Verrills is just 21. His passing is exceptional and a great dummy half runner. I hope he stays
Yes I haven’t seen a sharper passer than Sam. It’s poetry in motion. Incredible passes.

I think most of our squad could get more money elsewhere.

When one is rebuilding one has to start somewhere.
Maybe 600k or 500k in the new system cap money.
A lot more than he's likely getting now.
..and he'd be no1 starting hooker.

600 or 500 my sentiment still stands - 500 or 600 he’s played a handful of games he is handy. He probably has a future - don’t know haven’t seen enough of him yet. He would go for 300 I reckon.

don’t get me wrong I’m glad we have him and would like to keep him but no way would we keep him if someone else offered him 300plus he is gone and we probably would be wise to let him go at that price. We can’t spend 400 / 500 on back up otherwise we will have to let players in the top 17 go instead. Frankly he is a waste of a bench spot right now - just to keep him fit in case Jake gets hurt. If NSW cup was being played I don’t think he would have played a game this year in first grade.

If another team gives young Sam a good offer , I say we should do the right thing and send his brother .
