Garbage Cronk is still on staff but outside of the bubble because of his commitment to Fox sports, he does his coaching via phone and Video link..

We have the 30 players as required by the NRL but I’m sure not all of those would a chance to play NRL any time soon but I’m sure that once Sonny gets up to speed, he will be the weapon we no longer have with Victor out. So it’s just a matter for management moving a fringe player to the Worriers ASAP!

I think that due to the loss of Radley and Verills, the Roosters will have some dispensation from the NRL to sign Sonny for this year. Then he can stay on if possible for a coaching role next years. Cordner is keen on the idea. It has obviously been discussed at the top. I will be happy for it to happen, he will good to have around the guys.

I would suggest the dinner was to clear the way for SBW to sign for someone else, probably the Warriors. Sonny had a handshake deal with Nick that if he came back to the NRL it would be with us. As these are unusual circumstances, and time has moved on beyond when either party probably contemplated his return might happen, his manager was probably making sure Nick would be OK with him playing elsewhere. I can’t see him playing for us.

We won’t get any dispensation just because we have had a few injuries even if there were key - we still have members in our squad who could fill those positions. You’d only get dispensation if you had that many injuries that you couldn’t name 21 each week - we aren’t that bad.

We will have to release a player - I imagine a fringe first grader will go (Hutch, Asu, E.Butcher etc) to someone who needs them desperately (probably the warriors). As mentioned in the SMH article, we’ll most likely look at players off contract next year and offer them to leave now and go somewhere else since they aren’t getting game time anyway

                    Surely not...that ship has sailed.

It would only be a Nick 'shiny toy' moment if serious. Robbo wouldn't want it Id hazard a guess, but would never say so obviously. SBW was showing signs in 2014 of being tested.

There is no need for dispensation. SBW will not be playing a full season so he won't be getting paid for that. 6-8 games and will be paid with what we have available on the cap. He is still being paid by Toronto because it was their call to opt out of the Super League for this season so they are somewhat paying for us to have him, how smart are we? Well I mean the club. He still has another season for Toronto next year so he's probably looking to stay in shape for next season which is why it suits him to play for us rather than a struggling club where he's going to have to kill himself for nothing..

IMO we wouldn't need it. We have $400k left under the cap and he'd only be playing a few games anyway (assuming he can get here with all the quarantine restrictions...etc).

He'd play out the season then look for a new contract next year (not with us). $400k would do the job for ~8 games of footy. I'd be confident his body could handle it too. Perfect scenario!

It’s not a salary cap issue - that bit is very plausible as it is. The issue is with the squad max number of players already being filled - you can’t just demote a player or add an extra player. It’s all regulated. They’ve mentioned it in about every article so far as an issue the roosters will have to sort while pointing out we do have plenty of cap space to make it work otherwise

I’d be fine with it. He’d be a great interchange impact player

His wife is Australian which I think may allow him to come straight into Australia & do the 2 week quarantine.
