He was definitely rusty in attack. But I honestly believe that wasn’t his fault. He tried offloads that no one was running on to. Passes that no one could catch. At the blues in rugby or roosters in the NRL their would of been a player to catch that offload or catch that pass. He definitely won’t be that 80 minute guy but he has the potential to turn a game on its head.
Spot on, he was creating every time he touched the ball for Toronto, but the players around him weren't good enough to take advantage of the offloads and the space he created., he will be absolutely awesome for us.

    • Sonny Bill Williams looks set to join the Sydney Roosters as he books a flight to Australia and his agent chats with the NRL club's boss

          • Im not sure if someone has already posted this link....but its highlights of SBW's second game for Toronto. I know its the UK Super league but for his second game back after a long lay off through injury- plus he hasn't played rugby league since 2014...... he still has silky balls skills and can run great lines.

Yes no one is expecting him to be the player he was 2013-2014 but his mere presence will be a boost for the whole club. Using him off the bench in short spells will be give the team an enormous lift. You know his professionalism and preparation will be top notch. On & off the field he is all class. Players like Sitili, Butch and Collins will learn plenty from him.

I cant understand anyone here questioning the decision to bring him back. The guy is a 100% Roosters living legend and deserves our support.

              • There is a HUGE difference between the roles of:

                A) Carrying an entire team on your back and expected to do so because the $$$ you are being paid
                and
                B) Playing in the best team in the world where you are expected to play a much smaller role and just focus on doing dmg for a small period off the bench.

Calling it now... this smaller role and being surrounded by talent will ignite a 2nd wind in Sonny and in a few months time the doubters here will be begging him to stay in 2021

                • If SBW goes to a club other than the Roosters, it would not be a good move for his future life after football...IMO.

                  • Trent says he is confident the SBW signing will be confirmed in the next few days (says NRL.com)

Wolfpack owner in regards to making it work so Sonny can play for the Roosters this year but go back to the Wolfpack still next year:

"If Sonny wants to play NRL for the remainder of the season and come back to the Wolfpack, how it is done is semantics,"

"Fundamentally, all we are doing is using loopholes that can be orchestrated or lawyerised to get around the intent."

ie he said he will arrange to terminate the current contract and write up a new one for next year

                    • Haven't been on the pen for a while. It seems I owe KurT an apology. It appears you were right with this one mate. Hope SBW can fill that missing piece for Easts this season.

                      • SBW had an older Mini at FB when he was here.

Now imagine SBW offloading to the ever lurking Teddy racing up the field.........

                        • As far as the influence of SBW and Cronk I think when Sonny came to the club we had few loose players who didn’t prepare themselves property for the rigours of league, and he showed them what discipline is all about. When Cronk came in the team ( some of whom had played with SBW) had matured and what was instilled in them back in 13-14 has become the standard at the Roosters and Cronk was able to run the team smoothly.

                            • you're never going to be able to replace cronk, but flanno is ticking every box so far.
latrell was a fair goalkicker and the best centre in the game but we've replaced him with jmoz who was recently voted 2nd best centre in the game. seems like we're not losing anything with flanno's kicking.
and, oh, sbw is on his way.
no guarantees of success at all, but the club has done well in recruitment.
put it in perspective - tigers couldn't secure latrell for 1m a year - we've got jmoz, flanno and sbw for well under 1m.
