He's my favourite player who isn't a rooster , he never gives up on any play and is a handful for defences. He is someone you could build a club around and a struggling team should offer him 800k a year to play hooker.
In saying that we don't need him with what we've got.

You can't not like him as a player

I know for a fact that Brandon has been promised by the Storm that he will be their No. 9 next year. But his camp aren't stupid... it wouldn't be the first time the club has told him one thing, and then Cameron Smith has done the other.

They must know that Cam is retiring then. I’d put Harry at 9 and Smith at lock.

The only reason we would look at Smith is if we knew Sammy V was leaving, which I hope won't happen as he is too talented to lose. Sammy will get plenty of first grade off the bench over the next couple of years so I can't see how Smith would want to join the Roosters as he would be a third choice hooker. There is talk about Smith moving to halfback if he stays another year at Melbourne, or even finishing his career in Brisbane, so Smith will only be competing with young Grant for the hooking role at Melbourne. He will certainly get some big offers from clubs like the Warriors, Brisbane, Doggies, Cowboys etc, can't see him ever being a Chook. As for your motor vehicle comparison, I would say Smith is a Ford Ranger, while Sammy is a Range Rover.

I won't rehash what has already been said but, sorry The Thracian, I cannot agree with you on this one. I too prefer Verrills at the moment. It is a good, thought provoking thread nonetheless.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Smith is a real old school hooker , tough and nuggety but the way the game is evolving I think Sam is the future of the modern day hooker , fast , lean ball playing half type skills
