  • Sacrifice the Storm game

We will struggle against the Dragons with the team we have but need the two points.

The following week we play the Storm and highly unlikely to win with all the guys we have out plus those that are desperate for a break.

Give everyone that needs a break against the Storm and hopefully start fresh the week after with a few troops back.

JWH, Friend, Keary, SST. Give them all a break.

I don't think that will happen- I did hear that Cords could be out for another few weeks due to continual headaches and vision issues or at least that was what they said on the radio

A terrible idea. Lose by 50 and further more erase our confidence.

Do you really think we are short on confidence? Please.

We always have a form slump mid year. Last year from R10 we lost 5 out of 7 and then slowly started our peakness towards the final. It is Robbo's way.

Bring in Toups, Bmoz, Jmoz, Cordner, Crichton and SBW and we will quickly gain the confidence.

There are no byes this year which are vital to us particularly this year so we have to create our own. With all the players out, some players are playing with injury and how will they be with no break heading towards the finals.

Melbourne are the team we are most unlikely to beat with our current crop so I hope Robbo chooses this game to rest some of our injured.

It may not be our style but we haven't really faced this type of injury toll to so many starting players. It is all about the end game not just one game.

Agreed. Our PD is the biggest thing going for us right now. IMO 'week by week' is literally how we should take it for now.

Today impressed me because we managed the Titans' full-strength roster outta a game we had no real right to win. I mean the Titans rolled out their big guns, did MASSIVE amounts of homework on our defence, had 10 indigenous players in their top 30 (oh man... they almost cried when they did that early indigenous dance + slowly realised they'd been denied) and we were always just hanging in there.

I hate the Drizzle but IMO they rarely put cricket scores on teams or display lotsa silky moves in attack. All they do is manage teams outta the game by taking the easy points, grinding out positional plays and spoiling the ball when the opposition looks like getting a change in momentum (e.g. through well timed penalties...etc). We knew we didn't have the artillery tonight and there were serious holes in the Bondi Wall so rather than blowing them outta the water, we managed the whole situation smoothly and confidently. A close win but VERY impressive in my books!!!

IMO this kinda win is what you build a season on. Some years we've lacked consistency because we've won the big games and then lost a heap of p!ssy little games against bottom-8 teams (which totally nullifies the big win against the Drizzle you've just had, for example). Since the COVID freeze we've lost to Melbourne and Canberra, both by less than 6 points in nail biters. We've won every other game and wins like this are just as important as nail biters against the Drizzle!

So let's play to win EVERY week... and if we don't, let's play to preserve that MASSIVE PD because it's the biggest thing we have going for us right now. Now that things have settled, I reckon there will be less 50+ point victories so we need to preserve our spoils from those early weeks after the resumption of play. It'll be a tight finish and we'll need ever point we can keep to stay in the 4 IMO.

I am hoping we will only be missing SBW for that game.

Why all the panic? Yes, it's hard to watch. Yes, we are battered and bruised but not broken. Guys like Crichton, Cordner, SBW & Tupou will all come into the finals as fresh as daisies. In playing less minutes, JWH too, if he can shake off these niggling injuries. Meantime, Collins, Lam, Butcher, Tupouniua, Ikuvalu et al get valuable game time and first grade experience. Currently, they are learning to win ugly. Premierships are handed out in the Spring, not the Winter. This is a journey we're on - we're not there yet.

                      So true.
I just looked at the results from last year and we actually lost 5/6 games from round 10.
We then clicked into gear and put on some big scores and went on to win every game bar Rd 25 against the bunnies.
I feel we will drop a couple more over the next 4 weeks or so and then when majority of the troops come back we will kick into gear on our way to B2B2B.

I reckon they will consider it but not against us. They have run out of puff the last few years and would need a different approach leading into the finals
                        ..it’ll be interesting to see

If we field a young side against the Storm we are in a win/ win situation.
As intercept says, if we have Collins, Lam, Butch, Sitili, Iku lining up against the Storm, with 5 senior players out through injury, no one expects us to win.
                          If we lose, that's expected.
But what happens in the rough 1 in 10 chance that we stick it to the Storm , as underdogs, and scrape home with a win?
Suddenly it F@#Ks up the Storm players mentally, knowing they can't beat a Roosters side with 5 or 6 of its top players out?
Can you think of the baggage that they would be carrying into the finals series in their heads?

Yes, but those losses came while Keary was out with his concussion problem, and during the Origin period. Not because of some master strategy to begin to peak from round 18.

So we need the two points against the dragons but not against the storm? Ok that’s confusing.
