I’d rather this happen than Sitili play in the centres.

    • I think young Flanno has done very well, but obviously the coach sees areas he wants him to improve, and lam has done well in his brief appearances this year, and must have earned his chance by showing a good attitude at training etc. It must be hard managing a bunch of young blokes, this move might do both players the world of good, teach them both that they should take nothing for granted, and that hard work and persistence gets rewarded.

        Sounds like some healthy competition.

Rightly or wrongly we haven't been scoring a lot of tries in the middle for some time. Are there questions being raised about Flanno's speed/service/cohesion? Presumably it's gonna majorly p!ss off Jake, Cords, JWH and SST if he 'just feels clunky... feels smoother when Lam's providing service in the backend of the half/game'. Anybody with experience in playmaking roles know whether this could put off Jake's timing too? (LOTS of forward passes last week... because Flanno's a second behind everybody else's thinking rather than 3 steps ahead... maybe?)

I have noticed that our intensity + hunger increases as soon as Lam enters the field (a bit like Morts in 2013). Similarly with Watson - inferior kicking skills to Hastings but provided quicker, smoother decisions. Be interesting to see how we go tonight. We are seriously slim on players and a win (on an 'ANZAC day test') woukd be one for the history books!!!

ZERO whinging about injuries from Robbo, ay? He seems quietly confident that our reserves will do a job on them + beat the Storm too.

        • Robbo provided some insight in the presser. Said Flanno's one of the hardest trainers and is a great bloke so it was a really tough decision. However, he wants everybody to get better. Too early to say whether he'll get a go next week but Robbo was impressed by Lam's game (for all the reasons people have given on here).

          • Certainly missed his goal kicking, and while Lam went well I don't think he did enough to keep Flanno on the sideline for too long. We are lucky to have a high quality replacement in Lam, but I hope Flanno does whatever is needed to gat back on field, and soon.

            • I thought Flanagan looked very dejected in the sheds after the game

Good...id be disappointed if he wasn't.

Dont forget Lachie has been warming up, training , celebrating etc. with these guys for a while now, while rarely playing. Defines a good clubman.

                • Thought it was harsh when Flanno got dropped but what a champion bloke who took in on the chin waited his time & has come back in and is playing really well & led the team around tonight superbly. Teddy would have gotten 3 points closely followed by Kyle 2 points & young Freddy 1 point.

Too control of the game from the kickoff. Keary was hardly seen in the first half. It shows the trust the team has in him that’s for sure. Another great game!

Agree with everything except the 1 pt for Lussick. He played well but in his role he gets a lot of time on the ball. He was very good but I think Cords was enormous and Gus changes the game with his effort in the middle

                        • His penalty kick for goal to put us up by 6 was a beauty under pressure and not for the first time this year he has shown he wants to take those important kicks.
He admitted in an interview that Robbo wanted him to take the line on more when he was dropped. He looks refreshed and was getting worn down in defence.
Good to see he has taken it on board and was the dominant half last night as Keary is obviously nursing his ribs at the moment.

                          • Flanno was real good last night. He is getting better each time.

                            • Lol can we stop bumping this thread, I keep seeing it every now and then and have minor heart attack that he’s gone and injured himself. Touch wood he doesn’t.

He’s been better since coming back from being dropped, definitely looking to run the ball more. Still so early in his development though it’s unfair to be too critical of him. His performances are more mature and consistent than his age and experience would suggest.

                              • It's easy to forget that he's only got 20 odd FG games to his name. He's certainly mature beyond his years; no doubt aided by such a great team and coach.

If Sam Walker is the absolute superstar that the club believes him to be then there's a really tough decision to be made, perhaps as soon as this offseason.
