Roosters slay Dragons and Knights in race to sign Bosden..

      Josh Rakic

      June 19, 2011

THE Sydney Roosters have pulled off a coup in signing boom Dragons rookie Jack Bosden on a two-year-deal.
Bosden has been earmarked as a future representative player by experts, and was being lured to Newcastle by outgoing Dragons coach Wayne Bennett, but has opted to relocate to Bondi Junction. The 22-year-old back-rower is seen as an ideal replacement for retired utility Daniel Conn (neck), and Roosters officials hope he will develop into a player like Gold Coast-bound Maroons forward Nate Myles, who can play at prop or in the back row.
"We've had a couple of dabbles at him before, actually,'' Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan said. ''I had a good rap on him when he was at Cronulla as a junior, and we tried to get him here when he ended up going to Saints. It took a while, but we finally got our man.

''He's come here for a good opportunity because he's stuck behind two Origin back-rowers at Saints, and when they're not playing, Dean Young is usually used on the edge. So his chances are a bit limited there. He's got great skill and a great attitude, and we look forward to watching him play for the Roosters.
"He'll probably fill that Daniel Conn role to start with because there's a fair bit of disparity between Nate Myles's record and Jack's. But he can play a lot of lock for us and add a bit of skill and an offload."
While the Roosters will have to wait until next season to benefit from Bosden's services, they're hopeful Aboriginal All Stars and Eels hooker Anthony Mitchell will join the club as early as next week. The livewire dummy-half has agreed terms, and the injury-plagued Roosters are waiting on NRL and Eels approval. "We still have a little bit of to-and-fro to go in terms of the NRL and Parramatta,'' O'Sullivan said. ''We've got no players. We need him. We only had 14 blokes at training on Thursday.''

I think he will be in the 17 purely because Smith bought him.

But I cant see anywhere in the article about him being a starter or playing lock.

I read the link that you had posted, that had nothing to do with the SMH. But anyway I agree I think Bosden will be in the 17 I have said that all along.

And will continue to change during the preseason, I look forward to seeing the team come rnd 1 and hope we see some that have greatly developed after playing a few nrl games in 2011, coupled with a full preseason in thier positions.

There is nothing like a bit of competition for spots.

It should ensure everyone plays out of their ar@e.
