  • Roosters 2012 Backline?

We spend a lot of time talking about our forwards but I feel it is our backs which need to improve or be replaced. What's our best backilne for 2012? This was Rugby League Week's best possible team line-up:
    7. Mitchell Pearce
    6. Braith Anasta
    3. Justin Carney
    4. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
    2. Sam Perrett 5. B.J. Leilua
    1. Anthony Minichiello

Seems a bit predictable from RLW. Your thoughts?

    Plenty of variables really.
I see Moga getting a start, didn't Smith say something a while back about him starting?
    I'd go;
    1. Minichiello
    2. Perret
    3. Moga
    4. SKD
    5. Henry/Leilua/Tagive
    6. Anasta
    7. Pearce

RLW seems to simply name last years line up for EVERY team with a major signing like Chris Sandow or Todd Carney thrown in for good measure hence the line-up they gave for the Chooks.

Justin Carney was surely thrown in for laughs.

Any room for Mortimer or has he yet to prove himself in the trials?

            Mini/Wells
            Pezz
            SKDumb
            BJ
Moga/Henry/Tagive (most open position in the side IMO)

            Bwaiff
            Pearce

Do you remember when he first arrived to a fanfare of highlights packages from his tryscoring ability at the Raiders? What happened when he got here???????

Who played better than him last year in the centres? No one.

I am not the greatest fan of Carney but I guarantee you he will be in the run on side in Rd 1 if he is not injured.

You dont have to reply yet just wait till Rd 1.

Yep I saw that video too. He is not the same player post whatever injury he had (?ACL). A fairly honest defender, but I can't remember him making a break or breaking a tackle since he got here. Since Daryl's Drunken Di.ckhead (to quote Chook) left, we are seriously deficient in the backline. SKD scored 24 tries or so when DDD was serving up good ball in 2010. What did he score last year, 4 or so?

I have always liked Anasta. Top bloke, good leader, good kicker (when not going dead or out on the full, but that comes with the package!), tough. Will never forget his FG against tigpies. But as a 5/8 he is just too slow. A fast 5/8 with a step creates options in attack and forces defenders to commit. With Braith, they don't have to commit to tackling him (which creates holes for supporters to run into) even if he takes on the line, because he is slow enough to catch if he doesn't pass it.

Then again if our forwards dominate anything is possible.

I'd rather him over Braith if he does alright in the trials, but that probably won't happen.

Well since you have posted that it must be right because you would know.

                            Mini
                            Perrett
                            SKD
                            Bj
                            Mogo
                            Braith
                            Pearce

Possibly Aubs to centre and bj and Mogo fight out the wing spot

With the forward pack we've possibly got, maybe Maubs in the centres is'nt so bad.

                              1. Mini (with Perret moving to fullback in 2013)
                              2. Perrett (... Mogo 2013)
                              3. Maubs (... SBW 2013)
                              4. SKD
                              5. BJ
                              6. Braith (... Maloney 2013)
                              7. Jr Jr
