Imagine an experienced centre coming up against a centre/wing pairing of BJ and Moga early in the season...

Guys like Inglis or Tonga, to name a couple, will destroy that combo..Not good for confidence..

Slowly slowly I think with some of these young guys..

I totally agree with you here. We need to pick the right guys in their positions and the right guys to work together on either side of the field. BJ's defense has been questionable at times (and that is being polite).

In the NYC semis last year Henry had a very big headstart on a long run down field. He was easily chased down.

On what do you base this opinion? He was very average at best when he did play in those few first grade games for Saints.

Yeah I heard about that game thirteen. Also heard that the no. 6 that chased him down is lightning. He is about 4 kgs heavier than BJ, I really hope he is quicker though.

Mate the bloke is quick and I think he would be in first grade at most clubs. There were some very good and fast players keeping out of the the top 17 at St. George. Are you saying you don't rate him?

PTB, I heard what you're saying but let's face it we don't really have much experience on the flanks. If we were selecting a team to defend then Justin Carney would be in the centres every week. Tagive has only played about 10 games his whole career and isn't a great defender anyway. Leilua is far more experienced as a first grade winger. And I don't think we should be putting Moga on the wing for defensive reasons. He has no real experience there, he's not great in the air and he would have to make more crucial decisions defending on the wing. I think you have to look at how an attacking advantage you might get from a player would balance out against their defensive deficiencies.

For the record, I expect Smith to pick Moga in the centres round 1 and I also expect him to struggle reading the plays quick enough defensively for the first 5 or 6 rounds. He didn't really show any signs of struggling defensively in NYC but I think that had a lot to do with the fact he was much stronger than his opponents and that seemed to allow him to give himself more time to read attacking moves. I remember him backing off a few times close to the line and still being able to make a dominant tackle. That won't be the case in first grade. Hopefully this has been arrested in the pre season.

                  6 Anasta

                        1. Mini
                        2. Sammy p
                        3. Skd
                        4. Bj
                        5. Moga - I'd give him first shot at that Wing spot, followed by Henry / tagive / carney / rts

                        6. Anasta - I'd start with Anasta and if necessary slot Mortimer in and move braith to the back row or newtown
                        7. Pearce - if Anasta gets dropped I'd quickly put the 'c' next to he's name, I think hes game will improve a lot being captain

I haven't seen enough of him really. I just have memories of him fielding a ball in his own in-goal area and buthchering it pretty badly with not a player in site. I will of course give him a chance and wish him lots of success. Let's hope he becomes a superstar!

BJ looked more promising at the back end of the year in the centres. I would have Maubs inside him, his defence was missed last year. As for Moga, I disagree. I would prefer to see him start his FG career on the wing.
