    played well.
not sure he's a shoe in for 7 for the rest of the season or even the next match but he's done good things this year.

in fact you can say that about all of our halfbacks at the moment

He's a first grade standard halfback for sure.
        Yeah agree Tommy.

He kept most of his tricks in the kitbag tonight though, and let Luke take the running. Just did what Robbo asked, although he wanted a touch more deprh with a couple of kicks.

Important thing is the other guys want to play with him.

Humble pie? He was ****ing pedestrian. Woeful long kicking game finding the player on the full constantly, non existent running or passing, and shanked his shot at goal.

Basically put in the exact same type of performance that got Flanno dropped.

Our halfback ranks are completely bare this year

            I prefer Flanno over Lam

Not fully convinced. Thought Tristan Sailor was substantially better.

His goal kicking alone makes him the better choice. We'll lose games on missed kicks without Flanno in the side

It's tough, but Kyle has more in his arsenal long term for a halfback I think.

Put on some kilos in an off season Freddie says, help with the D and it will perhaps give him more confidence in taking the line on.

I need to see more of lam, strong boot tho.

It was a good first up game for Lam in a team that he's only played in the halves for once before and that was with a very different group of players around him.

I thought he controlled the tempo of the game well and did what Robbo wanted, he wanted a ball in up tempo game and it was definitely that.

He kicked the ball 12 times, 5 more times than Flanagan's season average. Kicked the ball for 384metres, the 3rd most kicking metres of any Roosters half this season and had 50 possessions of the ball which is 14 possessions higher than Flannagan's season average.

What was extremely noticeable is that Lam was playing both sides of the field both in his ball-playing and kicking game, this is not something we have seen Flannagan do really at all so far in the first half of the season he was pretty much locked onto that right edge of the field. The combination between Keary & Lam seemed to flow a lot better than it did with Flannagan and it really seemed to bring the best out of Keary who had an absolute blinder. There seemed to be more cohesion and trust, Keary was not afraid to run the ball on the 5th play because he just trusted that Lam would be there to kick on last no matter which side of the field the ball was on, Robbo made special mention of this post game.

One game really doesn't mean much though if you can't go out and replicate/improve on that performance over the coming weeks.

Without doubt our hardest test of the season next week against Melbourne with a huge injury toll.

Lam looked pretty good for his first game in the halves. The attack was more fluid and he seemed to bring the best out of Keary. Was good defensively and has a solid boot which was nice to see. Flanno still ahead because he kicks goals. If Lam can be turned into an 80% kicker, he will most likely be the 7.

Yeah his defence was particularly impressive. There were a few moments where I thought Dragons had huuuge gaps and were gonna score but he read them and flattened them onto their backsides. Big dudes too... took a lot of courage.

He was pretty slick with ball in hand I really enjoyed watching always looked like he would half punch through defenders, some heavy contact on much bigger blokes he looked very strong defensively and covered up a bad miss by Manu on Aitken.

Early days but he looks good. No goal kicker is a real problem.

I thought that Lam in the first half held the ball a fraction too long and at one stage I thought in the first few minutes we could have had a third try where he held on to the ball trying to score whereas Teddy was coming around him on the right to take the ball and had more room and speed to score...but that's just nit picking. Flanagan has improved a lot and looks like he has more in that glass to fill. Fortunately or unfortunately we need a stand by for Friend so if Lam has a role in the 17, then it may just be as a replacement hooker. Then again Sonny comes in and then who will miss out?

                              Lam is a winner.

Maybe not at starting 7 but what an asset to slot in at 7 or dummy half.

Definitely aspects of his game stronger than Flanno and he has clearly been working on his attack.

And I was sceptical going into last night's game, but it's always a strong sign when Robbo keeps picking a player to wait in the wings then launch into action.

Remember when he did that with Radley....?

he was ok but needs not to think twice or too much what to do and run on his first instinct ..thats his only problem .
