One thing it rammed home is that a good big man will always beat a good smaller man and there is always the unaccountable unforeseen like Brandon morphing into Cameron and Pappen becoming the other Cameron behind that dominant pack. Time to let the 3peat go if you value sanity. The replacements now need replacing, Teddy is going nowhere behind the current pack (Tauks excepted) and the playmaker is gorn. Time to let the 3peat go if you value sanity and embrace more modest aspirations like close losses a la the Nineties.
    big roosters fan, seneca.
i think as footy fans we've proved that sanity is over rated.
but sure, finals are a long way off. we need to grind out some wins over the next few weeks.

Chooks just need to focus week by week not who is out and who maybe back - the players are well prepared and know the systems and their roles- they just need to do their job- last night a few forgot this and had rather poor games by maybe trying too hard I don't know - I'm not sure what either team took away from the game last night except one won and one lost- It was kind of like a boxer fighting another boxer who has one arm tied behind his back.

The Roosters were ambushed by the Storm last night. They came out all guns blazing. Any other team would have been behind by more at half time. The team fought back in the second half and held their own.

How one team can not receive a penalty until half way through the first half is beyond me. We got some six again calls, but more penalties must be blown. There has been an increase in injuries to most teams this year and I reckon it is the result of fatigue. Get the penalty, have a breather, kick for touch and regroup. To receive a token six again call coming out of your own half, or a penalty kick where you can find touch 30 or so metres upfield, I'd rather the penalty.

The NRL will slowly burn the players out way before their time in an effort to speed up play. The rules are in place for a reason Common sense should prevail. I'd rather see more penalties being blown than a six again in your own half and maybe revert to the six again call when in the opposing half. At the start it was working better, now coaches know that penalties will not be blown and coach accordingly.

Too much too soon NRL. There will not be a competition if there are no players left standing.

I think that actually proved a motivation for the rest of the team, Bellamy would have pushed that down their throats all week.... everyone thinks you can
t win without the Camerons.... etc, and it worked. It will certainly knock any complacency out of our players as well.

last night was a showcase hiw abysmal the new rules are with one ref.
Storms game plan all night was hold the plsyer up and 3rd man in smashes them they did this 20 times ..as resulting in injuries.
Bellamy was always the master of bending the rules.
You all hail Vlandys Gould ,Bennet as geniuses ..I've said from day 1 the new rules one ref will ruin the game.
this is a micky mouse comp this year its egotisitically run.
For me the game is ruined.this 6 again shit laughs at the rules...mostly affects the 10 meters .Refs cant handle it
                Apart from?? Hahaha

We were awful and did not respect the opposition or the ball

Give credit were credit is due, Melbourne were clinical and fast. We were the exact opposite

Mid season last year we got smashed by the Knights in Newcastle with Brock Lamb at halfback. Was a massive wakeup.

As long as Keary is not out for too long, I believe that we can still give the comp a real shake. As the week's go on, we will be getting troops back for the business end of the season.

Have not given up yet. Glass half full stuff. Ridiculous injury toll at the moment, but the majority will be back in time for the run home.

Just stating the obvious, Keary is the key. Apart from his current injury, some time off can only help the rest of his body.

                  Glass half full.

Give everyone a mini pre season and then go all out for a 4 week assault on the competition.

I feel this is now our most likely path to a Premiership rather than trying to expend what energy we have left just to make the top 4.

I think it’s the loss Robbo needed to be honest, we were winning ugly the last 3 weeks against lower teams, at the same time resting players..

Now that Melbourne pulled our pants down I think it’s a big wake up call for him and I trust he will respond accordingly..

The only team that could beat the Storm in the GF this year is the Roosters with their full strength team. Unfortunately thats not going to happen.
Storm v Panthers GF & the Storm winning it.

Smith definitely deserves another premiership, and if it’s not us winning it, I love the hate of the storm winning it.

You have to give credit to them they are all away from home in another state & had their 2 best out yet come out & give the Roosters an absolute bashing. They dont buy any players but are able to identify blokes who make FG & kill it. Welch, Bromwich & Asofa Solomona where do they get these giants?
Brandon Smith, Papenhayzen & Hughes just killing it. Go onto their web site & look at their players Ive never heard of most of them yet they are gonna win the comp.
People who dont rate Bellamy have no idea.

I've always rated the Storm as our biggest threat to a 3 peat, but does anyone feel that they played their beat game last night, and can't get better?
TBH , I think they are a better team with Brandon Smith in their starting lineup. Anyone who thinks Cameron Smith is a better option is caught up in all the media hype and bullshit about how good he is. FFS he is the oldest player in the NRL by far, so has no physicality in attack or defence to be worried about. Brandon Smith is an entirely different proposition.
Also for the Storm, I reckon Kafusi is no longer the damaging edge backrower he was in 2018, and Nelson was their starting frontrower in 2019, and the run he made over our tryline in the Prelim still gives me shudders. He is now on the Storm's bench, and am I imagining things, or isn't he as threatening as he was in 2020?
Anyway, if we get to the GF, and have he full team on the paddock, I reckon we are a good chance against them.
