Get a plate of water and some oil and take it down to training during the week.

It is better this is happening now than during the finals.

All is not yet lost. Keep the faith, we will be right.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

I got the answers!!!. Like all Calabrese i (think) i know everything & have a hard head.....my Skippy wife tells me everyday.!! You're 100% correct- the Roosters have the moloccio. Its 100% real but there is nothing to fear because there are a host of remedies which have been around for hundreds of years and all of them seem to work. You can wear the gorni, especially if it’s made from red coral because that’s extra protection. You can bless yourself with the sign of the cross when you come within 50 yards of the person who has cursed you (thats all non Rooster NRL supporters). You can spit on the ground at the mention of their name (also all non Rooster NRL supporters). You can wear the mano cornutta (“horned hand”) around your neck because that essentially gives them the horns right back.

            Other remedies include

            1. Hang a bunch of skinny dried hot red pepper all over the dressing room. They look like red horns and will keep the team safe.

            2. Take a container of salt and sprinkle it everywhere. This is a must, from the corners of the dressing rooms, training rooms and players homes & cars

            3. And for added measure, just to make sure that the malocchio doesn’t find you in your dreams……….there’s the malocchio cloth, a giant piece of red material which should be placed between the floor and you, essentially between your mattress and boxspring, so that you will sleep soundly and safely. A must for all of the Roosters players

I'm of Lebanese background and we have similar beliefs. If you have ever read Freddy's book, he mentions his wife Marie's Greek background and how her relatives thought the evil eye was on his daughter when she was sick as an infant (page 283 of the paperback edition) and a few drops of olive oil on her forehead is what they said to do to caste the evil eye away.

I have tourmaline, obsidian and fire agate crystals all around my place. It sends the evil back to where it came from apparently and keeps the home safe. I also have a clearing mist from Byron Bay as I can't burn sage in a small home. That is an American Indian tradition also.

I have a red coral bracelet and I wear it with a blue one of Chinese crystals sent to me by colleagues from the Phillipines. When I had my shop, my Italian friend used to come and sprinkle salt at the door to keep the Souths fans away.. I lost my evil eye bead from the Lebanese church after walking between the SCG and Waverley after the Dragons game in 2010 when they kept getting away with forward passes and Kane Linnett injured himself under the posts scoring for us. I think I was more upset that day than after the grand final.

Hoping you didn't have any friends/family who died in Beirut? Must have been a big shock even if you didn't.

Thanks so much Zac but both my sets of grandparents were from the mountains, not Beirut, and they came on boats in the 1920's when Dad was 9 years old so we mostly were born in Queensland where they first settled but yes, it was very disturbing and upsetting nonetheless. Closer to home, the lovely lady who died this week from the virus picked up at the church at Rosehill was a family friend as we used to live on the same street as the church. I hope all of your loved ones are safe and that you had a good week.

I think it was George Burns who said, Too bad the people who know how to run the country are busy driving cabs or cutting hair...
