  • Two things from the eels/drizzle game

    1. eels won the penalty count 8 - 1.
      • There I was thinking the drizzle were choirboys given their near faultless discipline against the Roosters last week.
      • What an amazing drop in discipline from one week to the next.
      • Now I learn that bellamy is accusing the eels of gamesmanship.
    2. The refs caught a knock-on by brandon smith at the play the ball in the second half (73:46).
      • Did that knock-on look familiar to one brandon smith made when the Roosters lost to the drizzle when they played the first time?

We got pumped last week and were never in the physical battle...the refs had nothing to do with it.

Fark me Parra look like the chosen team this year aye boys. Fkn respect to Bellamy for calling them out in the presser, saying their players were staying down on purpose and shit. Keep in mind the manly forward pass, fergo knock in in their own 10 against cronulla, and the no try call which went against the dogs when moses made the decision to tackle RFM. Brandon smith got a high shot similar to NAS' one where he gets binned, and now has a broken jaw so out for 4-6. Obviously melbourne can't talk after their last 5 years but far out this is ridiculous....

      Parra Pen counts:

      tonight 8-1
      vs sharks 7-2
      vs dogs 8-3
      vs tigers 8-2
      vs bronx 6-1
      vs titans 14-2
      vs dogs 10-6

You and the three that agree with you have missed my point. But I'll take responsibility for not being totally clear on the point I was trying to make. Silly me for thinking that you and the three that agree with you would be capable of thinking laterally.

I didn't state that the reason the Roosters lost against the drizzle was due to the refs or the penalty count. I merely observed the variance in drizzle discipline from one week to the next.

Responses like yours are the reason I rarely post these days.

Parra have the easiest of draw and finally they play a decent team but that team has 10 guys out. How lucky are they. It’s ok cause they will get shown up come semi-final time and I can’t wait to see it.

That bit made me spit my weetbix - of all people for him and his cheating, dive taking side to whinge about gamesmanship. Hilarious. Apparently it was very unfair his prop was sin-binned for that coward shot to the eels player's head. I'll agree with him there, it was unfair - he should have been sent off. That was about as clear a send off as you'll get in fact - flush on the face with a lot of force and he wasn't even attempting a tackle.

Oh, and according to him and most of the media, being belted 14-nil is a tremendous achievement.

Agree wholeheartedly on that last point. Last week we lose by 18 with 11 players out and we have lost our aura. Tonight the Storm lose by 14 with 10 players out and it proves their premiership credentials. Odd.

Written comms always have a way of being misinterpreted, I like reading your posts mate, some people do understand or think about what you have posted before making assumptions, then some other people require extra clarification like pop up picture books and pie graphs and bright colours. Just ignore it mate,
personally I like what you post and hope you continue to do so.

I know what he was getting at also. I just get sick of carnts on here whining about the refs and their inconsistencies etc. It has always happened, always will. We have shown the last 2 years that their biased decisions or influence on the game will not stop the best team winning....and i actually think the refs have been very fair come finals time recently, especially toward us.

This trend has been going on for over a decade. Thankfully it hasn't stopped us.

                      Hope this trend continues!

When we are at full strength or almost, rather than with 11 players out, we can overcome the refereeing inconsistencies , ie not receiving penalties of the opposition for offside or 6 again restarts. Last night the storm were lying on the eels in almost all of the first 4 tackles, but on tackles 5 and 6 they speed up their release. They could have had reset against them continuously and were offside, continually jumping early. The difference to refereeing our game last week is stark. ...yes I know it will always will be that way, but doesn't stop being worth highlighting and whingeing about ! Would love to see a rooster player get up slowly at the play the ball and not play the ball instantly and catch the opposition jumping early and then the dummy half point it out to the ref...

The knock on was the thing that stood out for me. How ironic, same player, same knock on , unfortunately not picked up by our ref taking us into extra time which resulted in Toupo and Cordner getting hurt. Sliding doors moment. Hopefully the extended time off will be to our benefit come finals time and lady karma looks kindly on us and rewards us when it matters most.

From last nights game I thought that Sivo is milking after seeing him stay down with a supposedly crusher, twice and I have seen it before, I think it was v Tigers, and there are others in that team doing it.

As for Parra, if they only scored 14 points against the storm reserves plus NAS in the bin where they only kicked a penalty goal in the second half, then they are lucky they amassed all those wins having had the softest draw because they are guaranteed they will finish in the top 8. They’re shit!

I agree with you. The Roosters do not receive the penalties that they should. Why? I don't know. Would it change results? Doesn't matter.

Wednesday night I was watching a golf doco on Kayo. At the end of it, the Roosters - Storm game came on.and I was thinking that we actually started the game well. At 3:34 into the game Keary puts up a kick after Teddy nearly goes through the middle. For those interested have a look at the footage and freeze it as Teddy plays the ball.

You see Sutton back 10 and Kafusi at left of screen, directly opposing Keary is 2-3m offside. As the footage rolls you see 3 more Storm outside defenders all up with Kafusi. Sutton can see they're off side, the open side Touchie can see they're off side and yet no penalty. It was blatant, so what's the motivation or reasoning to not blow a penalty? Especially considering Sutton then blows the pea out of the whistle for the Roosters not being back 10 on the Addo Carr restart (marginal). Ensuing field position (and very soft defence) leads to Hughes try.

So many inconsistencies across so many rules at present. Maybe time for NFL style approach where Referees decisions and just as importantly non- decisions are evaluated live during the game and again after the game by the NFL and then by independent auditors.
