I reckon you could put that down to the SBW effect. You bring Sonny into the squad and suddenly all the existing players especially the ones who could potentially lose their spot, start to fire.

Sonny might not even have to play a game, he could just force the others to play so good, he can’t even make the team.

Imagine if that happened he comes back to the NRL & doesnt play a game for the Chooks & they win the comp.

In fairness to Butcher it's only in the last two games when I haven't seen him down injured at some stage with his ribs. I think he has been battling through the injury all year like a good clubman playing because we've been down on troops.
He does a lot of clean up work in defence particularly around the middle of the ruck.

You should look at the game more deeply than just saying a guy played well because he scores a good solo try. Without this try you would not have mentioned Butcher. He was solid but no better or worse than usual. Surely one effort doesn’t equate to a fantastic game.

Butcher has made 131 from 132 tackles in the last 3 games. Not bad, however he has done little with the ball this season apart from a solo effort against genuine wooden spooners.

Again to be fair he has been carrying a rib injury and been playing out of position.

He looked a different player when he shifted to lock in his second stint on Friday. Context is everything.

They said something about his technique being the best in the comp? Doesn't always convert itself into accuracy (e.g. JT has odd technique but you'd give him the pressure kick during a GF for sure). Still... great sign!

Joey loves his technique and says he punches the ball and it goes straight as a dye........

He is close to the best in the comp with the other guys at his level or above been kicking in fg for quite a few years.

Just remember he never really had a goal kicking coach until this year....

Actually, while praising Flanno's goal kicking, what they actually said was that talking to Daryl Halligan he had said Nathan Cleary has the best technique.
