  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Sharks

It’s National Mitchell Aubusson Day. A day to celebrate the remarkable achievements of a remarkable person and footballer.

I remember his debut at five-eight when he was touted as Brad Fittler’s replacement. Aubo has far exceeding expectations and will go down in history as one of our greatest clubman ever. Congratulations Aubo. You are much loved by all Roosters supporters and admired by many opposition followers.

The seaside westy wax-head bogans are there to make up the numbers. They offer no threat to us. They don’t even have a coach. Tonight we will make sure it’s a night to remember as we honour our great Rooster.

Good to see Robbo is giving some players a well earned rest and getting the squad ready for the business end of the season. Tonight should be little more than a training run and a win by plenty.

Go Roosters and go Mitchell Aubusson!

Been waiting for this day . Congratulation to Aubo , well deserved .Takes over from some of the greatest Roosters of all time to be our most capped player.
As for the game we should still win comfortably but without the resting players the gummies have a leg up .
Go boys do it for Aubo
    Go the Roosters by 20

          Thought Teddy was being rested.

Sharks said yesterday that emphatic wins in their next two games will set them up well for the finals.
That's us they intent to make their next victim.

If we play properly we will have a good chance of winning.
If not...if the mistake-making team of earlier in the season turns up, we could lose to these Sharks...it's happened before.
No tries must be allowed down our wings.
Yes, grind them out of the game sounds a good idea. No mistakes, completed sets, let them make the mistakes.
Teddy must be back ready to field kicks.
We're not guaranteed a top 4 spot yet...and would not be wanting to play the wounded rabbits next week to try to make it.
We simply must win this game tonite.

WHEN are the referees going to STOP Flanno and Keary from being smashed late and high once they've kicked the ball?
AND, going to stop them from being tackled in the AIR?
          WHEN, just WHEN?

Interesting clash tonight. Alot at stake for both teams regarding finals positions. Without Teddy, Cords, Friend and SST it evens up the playing field a bit. Out of the 4 I think we will miss SST's work up the middle the most.
Really wanna see JWH have a big one. He is overdue by his standards. Based on what Robbo has done previously this season I see Ice starting at prop, Angus at lock and Collins off the bench.
Still unsure who out of Manu or Bmoz would be the better choice at FB. I'd like to see a backline of 1. Manu, 2. Toops, 3.Jmoz, 4.Bmoz 5.Iku
In the end we will have too much class. There's too much on the line regarding a top 4 finish and Aubos milestone. East by 10+

I agree with your team. Would be good for Iku to get a run after his injury. Also to get a bit of match fitness too. With the Morris guys injury prone Iku will be handy at the back end of the year. And Aubo could replace Boyd.

With the likely table, a loss would see us play the 'riff week one. That, to me is not a bad thing at all.

I always equate the finals vs the proper season via that quote from Chariots of Fire that Sam Mussabini said about running, distance runners run on guts but a short sprint is run on nerves. It’s tailor-made for neurotics.

Cleary is too laid back, too calm, too much of a guts coach. I see coaches like Trent Robinson and Craig Bellamy, they’re just one giant nerve.

The riff would be spewing if they had to face us week 1 of the finals instead of the Eels. That in itself is not a bad thing at all either...

If we lose tonight, raiders beat warriors and sharks (highly likely) and eels beat tigers (highly likely), then another loss to Souffs next week sees us miss the top 4 altogether.

Souffs are no chance to win the comp, but the prospect of knocking us out of the 4 would be their grand final equivalent and a powerful incentive for them.

I'd rather we won tonight and play Storm in Brissie for week 1.

I hope that we make it a night to remember for Aubo - our great clubman, a complete gentleman off the field and someone universally admired by all and sundry.

It is time for the cream to start rising to the top and for us to continue building our form ahead of the finals series. Show them who is boss tonight Rooster boys - let's get into those Gummy Sharks!

                            Easts by 14.
                            MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

The 4 top line players the Roosters have out certainly help the Cronulla cause.
I think the Roosters will win well I hope they do but they wouldnt want to take Cronulla lightly.
                              Go the Mighty Chooks.
