    Stocktake of young players...
    1. Teddy (27 and best player in the world... young in my books as he's with us for another ~8 years and nobody will replace him in that time)
    2. Tuipulotu
    3. Smith
    4. Manu
    5. Ikuvalu
    6. Keary/Lam/Williams
    7. Flanno
    8. Collins
    9. Verrills/Lussick
    10. Fifita/Silly Farmer/Butch Jr
    11. Butch/Sitili
    12. Crichton
    13. Radley

I mean... are we saying there aren't enough up and coming Toddlers in the eastern suburbs or something? IMO so long as players continue to perform and develop as expected, we've locked in a top notch roster for at least the next decade. We've already got an issue of having more talent than we can utilise (i.e. guys who would play 80 mins every week at any other club, earning $500k+ who don't make the cut).

If we were to look any further ahead, it'd be pure speculation and we'd be snatching players out of their cradle for our extended squad.

Admittedly I don't watch/monitor our NYC team and SG Ball squads. But like... presumably there's at leas a few guys you've never heard of who will be big in a couple of years time.

i said that after last years GF win and losing Cronk and latrell, but as the new season starts, and the further you go, you want nothing else but to win it again.

Melbourne at the SCG should be the wake up call Both sides underfdone and we were comprehensively beaten

I think Robbo will manage things & move players on & bring in a couple if needed.
SBW & Maubs won’t be around next year & I believe Friend & JWH have another good season left in them, I think the Morris boys will be more for back up next year & young Billy will come in. Half back could be a problem not because of age but because of being to young, a lot of people on here seem to think that Walker is going to be the messiah. Who kicks goals next year if SST is out injured & Walker is halfback?

I think the squad is actually fairly young, I think moz bros will start but Smith will cover both of them so should get a fair amount of games, as I expect they'll miss a few games due to injury.

I think those writing off Flanno are a bit harsh.

For a 22 year old NO.7 his stats this year have been quite good. Most goals kicked this year, and at 80% too.

I think the fact that Keary runs the show, the fact that most attacking traffic goes down his side, and the fact that Teddy is so heavily involved in creating opportunities all play a factor in how Flanno Plays. He isn't the kind of halfback who will engage the line. Maybe running game will never been his forte, but at the same time, maybe game plan is the overall factor here.

My biggest worry is when Shane Flanagan picks up another coaching role. Is Flanno loyal enough to the club to stay, or will he join daddy?

If it's the former i'm happy to see Flanno in the No.7 for a while. If its the latter i'd prefer we looked elsewhere.

Flanagan was always a stop gap solution until Walker was ready. The only thing keeping him in the team ahead of Lam is his goal-kicking.

He reminds me of Cleary, who has been given a loooot of space to develop. Little chisel-jawed private school prefect with a solid pedigree + all round skillset. Not a lot of mongrel in him, but a solid, fair dinkum dude who's got a family to take through life's challenges with (as opposed to a stash of weed, pills and coke). He'd do well as captain of King's 1st XV.

Apparently Cleary's having a cracker this year (will probably be Dally M, no?) I remain skeptical of his ability to live up to the hype next week. We'll see...

Flanagan senior pushed Kyle our way to get a good apprenticeship with great coaching and surrounded by the best players instead of chasing bigger money elsewhere. I have the same reservations if Shane returns to the coaching ranks elsewhere of Kyle joining him. I'd imagine like the Cleary's it would be pretty special father and son together at the same club.

Cleary started killing it this year when he put on 5 plus kg, Kyle needs to do similar
