Quite often contention for spoon or finals can be a fine line...even just a couple of wins/losses.
One of the beautiful legacies thats afforded from such a mediocrity promoting top 8 system.

Top 5 and the rest can **** off. Seperate the contenders from the also rans.

Yeah I have been thinking along the same lines myself. In such a small competition the Top 8 is far too generous. Lets go back to the top 5. To make the top 5 any team must have a very solid season. As bad as we were last year we could have almost squeezed into the 8 if a couple of results went differently. Either way we did not deserve it and quite frankly were embarrasing for most of the year.

I don't think anyone would argue with this, however it's all about the money. Top 8 = more games. There is also the issue of the salary cap i.e. if you cop a few injuries early in the season, your year can be over before it even starts. Generally teams 7 and 8 are out in the first week anyway so I don't think it's the biggest issue. I would however change to the AFL system to give greater benefit to the top teams.

Last time Anasta and Pearce played together we got the spoon. I think we'll do a bit better than that......but not much better. Very surprised if we make the finals.

Mate i'm no fan of Bwaiff, but a few things should be cleared up..

Bwaiff was out with a busted ankle for the best part of the spoon year..Seitamata faarking Sa was 5/8th most of the time he was out..

And as much as i hate it..Fitzy captained us to the spoon..

Anasta is an average enough player without people telling untruths about him..

            Go Easts..

Anasta was injured in round 15, 2009. We were running last at the time.

Well it is harder to blame Fitzy for the team running last given he was given the Captaincy after our 6th loss on the trot and forced to play the rest of the season with a second-rower (and a crap one at that) at 5/8 than Anasta.

Anasta captained our club to the spoon.

Our first one in over 40 years.

                        He was club captain.

He was captain for most of the season til he got injured - and we were still last.

With him leading the way at five eight, our record has been appalling the last 6 years. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Our record with braith at five eight is diobolical. And that's over a long period of many years. Take a look at our record in the years when he's been our five eight.
