What can we realistically expect this year?

Big worry the lack of points. To have any shot of a good season the cornerstone of this will have to come from our defence. I saw enough in some games last year where we held out sides for many repeated sets of 6 to think if we get it all together in thes dept our defence will see us in conetntion at the back end of the game to win matches. Even if we have trouble scoring points

Good defence will see us hold a team to probably 12 points a game these days. With our halves, we will be lucky to score 14.

It's not as if the Drunkard Bogan contributed all that much on field in 2011. I reckon our lack of points last year was more about a fractured playing group for the majority of the season.

NC I think a big concern with the halves is there have been many games where with the two we are talking about in these positions where we have failed to score a point in a half of football When that happens you will lose more games than you win

On the fllip side if we can keep sides to 12 14 points we will be in a psition to win matches at the back end of games From there it comes down to pride in the jersey and a will to win more than the other side

10th-14th. The only way we will make the 8 is if guys like Mini and Anasta use there old heads and step up. Then the younger boys will follow suit.

Andrew, I reckon Smith may mix up our halves a little this year, especially if Mortimer is on the bench. I think you'll find he comes on and plays 5/8 for a part of the game and Braith moves into the forwards (or even, ye gods, benched for a spell). So depending on the chemistry between the Pearce and Mortimer, we may be able to create a few more points when they are paired together at certain stages of the match.

That's what I like about the recruitment of Mortimer - the options. Options we didn't have in 2011 because our preferred 5/8 was a basket case and played like it.

The 2009 pairing was the same as in 2008 when we made the finals, and the same pairing as for the first half of 2010 when the Drunkard was fullback. It's the off field crap that ruined our 2009 and 2011 seasons, not the halves.

Well I hope that our kicking game is on song this year, because thats the only way we scored points in 08/09. Off field crap did play a huge part in how shit the season went, only time will tell if that pairing can take us into the finals. On previous seasons, I have my doubts.
