Nice post and my sentiments completely.
I was so pissed off to start with the bullshit penalty by JWH but by the end I had come to piece with the loss, they played hard and never gave up.
It takes luck to win a GF and we just ran out but we will come back next year better and harder then ever.
I thought SBW was so good for us tonight, something I never expected and I take my hat off to him.
I love every one of our players and know that they will do us proud next year.
F#%k that first penalty it really ****ed us over, so F%#king soft.
    Go the Roosters

Era schmeera! Too many bickering barflies here willing and wanting the worst forecast for the only team that runs through my blood, and most likely does through yours. All throughout the 80s and 90s I never once expected Easts to lose in one single match that I attended, which was almost every single home match at the SFS during this period. My username is an attempt at irony, considering that it was the first year that I was taken to an Easts match (by my parents), and the dismal season end result for Easts that year.

Canberra played better than us tonight. Canberra showed (IMO) that they were aerobically fitter than us. They deserved to beat us... who cares, will any of us switch our allegiance? No effin' chance. I couldn't give a flying fUUk whatever the general consensus is. The future is a Rooster and the past is ours as well.

Storm are the best team left now. They should win it by a mile

I see us now entering a mini transition rather than a rebuilding ohase or a new era. There will be a changing of the guard, of sorts, but enough players will remain to keep us more than competitive. The future is still bright and I am optimistic. Go the Roosters!
          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Yes they have a bit on the rest....including us. In all honesty I couldn't see us getting past them.next week if we jagged a win at the end last night

I’m with the majority here. I’m a very proud Easts fan and are very grateful to this wonderful organisation. They played hard and gave it there all last night but the Raiders played well and the bounce of the ball didn’t go out way.

I think we will still be right up in the top 4 and challenging for another GF.
Yes. There is plenty of youth and fight in this team.

end of an era? we won't know for a year or two yet.

there's no guarantee that we immediately return to the top but even in a finals series where we underperformed we could easily have won both games so there are reasons for confidence in the future.

Now we enter our new chapter, which will hopefully include some new faces and a refreshed outlook on our footy.
I hope we can rebound next year without all the pressure being on us + without every team working overtime, going over our tactics with a fine comb.

IMO we had the best team in the comp on paper this year... pity we didn't quite get there.
