The running half back is a myth as Cronk wasn't one and neither is Cleary/Williams- Williams has 5 runs for 26 metres a lot of those in the try he scored- Keary ran 33 metres compared to over 130 for Wighton - needed Keary to run more as his numbers were well down on his usual standards- sure he had a head knock and maybe the vermin game zapped his confidence too as it may have done to others - noting Robbo's players not aligned comments.

With all due respect I’ve seen Cronk, Cleary and Williams score individual tries that Flanno could only dream of scoring, that is the simple reality right there..
They can threaten the line if and when needed, whether it’s a break from 40 metres out or a break near the line to score..
Whereas Flanagan’s slow coach running style won’t threaten a defensive line in any way shape or form, hence why he has hardly ever broken through the line..
At the end of the day I’m happy to agree to disagree and we don’t need to convince eachother as we have different views..
I guess we will see next year which way Robbo decides to go.

Show him a photo of Papalii...1.83m tall and 110kgs and ask him how he thinks Walker, Flanno and Keary are going to stop him from scoring.

Flanno has played 28 NRL games and in his first full NRL season compared to Cleary over 100 and Williams 200 (UK/NRL) -Compare apples with apples - i remember Cleary being bagged for his game not running/poor options etc - Cronk had a lot of top notch players when at the Storm though and took a few years to get his game on

The only way Sam Walker will be good for us is if he has the mongrel that Allan Langer had and after sitting on the sidelines for a year, he would need another year in the Reggie’s to build his body to a decent standard.
I remember when Jamie Soward was supposed to be our answer and when he was given the opportunity with us, he flopped only to go to the Drags and then bite us big time and then again at Penrith.
Sam Walker might be our future half but not next season otherwise he will not be the player we need.

Flanagan is not the problem. Ppl keep harping about his running game, but Cronk never ran it either. No doubt he is not the most creative, but I don't think he will be here at the club much longer anyway. As soon as Sam Walker is ready I reckon he comes in. And Walker kicks goals.
The problem is our defence. Its nothing like it was.
Next yr we need to rejuvenate this side and I wouldn't be surprised if Sam Walker is considered from the start of the year. I'd also like to see Collins start a lot more. And ffs re sign Angus. He's only young and only gonna get better. I'd take him over Sitili coz something will have to give regarding the Cap. Maybe Boyd retires? I think he should for his own welfare.Embrace the Hate! JC

Not sure the point of wanting to sign Maloney though - people on here are banging on about the aging squad - Maloney will be 35 next yearLast edited by Waylander; 10-10-2020, 09:08 PM.

Walker hasn't played NRL and the Chooks have had a few next big things that ended up leaving the club - Joey Williams/ Sean O'Sullivan/ Jamie Soward - only Soward went on with it somewhat
Interesting you mention Joe Williams he did play 49 1st grade games I knew him well through Touch footy I think he had a few issues off field not behavioural more inner demons which I think held him back He is doing some fantastic work with indigenous people now running a suicide awareness group called The Enemy Within The work he does there is 1000 times more valuable than anything he has done is sport I have great respect and admiration for the work he is doing He is making a difference to his peopleWhen you trust your television

Interestingly, Cronk in the post game analysis insisted that Flano would become a dominant half in the NRL. Too early in his career to write him off, but he definitely needs to improve his attacking game. He needs to dig into the line more before he passes, and make the occasional run just to kept the defence guessing. His kicking game is good and his defence is solid. I think he has promise, he seems to have a cool head, and by all accounts is a keen student of the game. Another full off season, hopefully with Cronk involved in his tuition, should see him continue to develop & an improved 2021.

I think we should give Flanno another full off season and next year to progress. Obviously Robbo saw enough in him to bring him to the club in the first place. Let's resist the temptation to elevate Walker too prematurely at the risk of stunting his career growth and development.
I don't like the Maloney idea either - we need to focus on youth, natural talent and enthusiasm.MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
