No matter what they do, you can't win an NRL comp without a very good goal kicker. If they think Kyle isn't the answer to their halves, there'd better be someone in the team who can match his goal kicking abilities! Though I'd rather they develop him into a player that can be the answer.

Billy Smith kicked at around 70% in 2019 for the Bears

In comparison Flannagan was only at 63% the same year playing for Newtown (granted he had a lot more shots)

I can't see Billy starting the year when we have Toups, Jmoz, Manu and Bmoz.. He will play for Norths for a while.

SBW might be a chance for another year, and if he doesn't want much then we could let Sitili or Butcher go, or both. Fifita looked good to in his brief appearances so could develop into something. We don't need a half, Flanno is good and will get better, and then we have Walker who could be anything. Billy will be a star at centre rotating with the Moz boys. Sam to share the load with Jake will be a big help too. If Suuali does want to play for us I hope we grab him.

Into the future, Imagine this team

            Teddy/ Manu
            Suuali/ Moz/ Toupolitu
            Smith / Moz
            Manu/ Moz
            Toups/ Iku
            Keary/ Teddy/Lam
            Flanno/ Keary/ Walker

            JWH/Lindsay/ Fifita
            Friend/ Sammy/ Lussick
            TKO/Faarma
            Cords/Baker/ Moretti
            Angus/SBW/Butcher/ Sitili
            Rads/Liu

Thats 30 players or 29 if we don't get Suuali, 28 if we don't get SBW, if so then there is still so room for another 2 youngsters from the ones we have already, or some new ones. Still a top 4 team.
no way should they even be considering signing SBW and that chapter should be closed - they would have to shed several players as the NRL Would not register a contract for anything under 800k as a minimum - They can put him in some Ambassador role for the Pacific Islander players

If Billy Smith is the answer than we're in more trouble than we thought.

And so he should. He needs to earn his place in first grade. Everyone ahead of him is an international.

Half the people commenting about him on here would have barely even seen him play.

Whys that? He was terrific between those long term injuries albeit too short a period. His bad luck with injuries should be behind him now. Big future ahead.

Yeah, I get your point, but hard to say what happens if he does want to play on, because of his relationship with Uncle Nick. I thought he tried hard this year in a limited role, and delivered plenty, so after a full off season and preseason he might still be an option. But surely as a 35 bench player year old his value would not be more than 400K.

I would rather the James Maloney idea than entertaining the idea of signing Benji or bringing back Mitchell Pearce.
                          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

The next 2 years are going to be a tricky period boys.

We'll be very competitive, and i'd expect we'll make the 8 in 2021. Teddy, Manu, Keary, Gus, Radley....we've got some great talent in our team.

But we've got Morris x 2, Friend, JWH and arguably Cordner who are on very old legs. SST out for some time too. We'll be rebuilding.

We'll see Robbo's succession plan come to fruition shortly. I actually think not moving Friend on is a lost opportunity for both parties - it would have given Verrills the start, and Lussick as the regular from the bench. It would have given Friend the possible opportunity to sign a huge contract with the Broncos.

I'm anticipating how well JWH and Cordner come out of the gates at the start of the season. Gee I hope they are fresh and looking sharp again. The thought that they could be past their peak is saddening.

Perhaps Robbo's close mateship with certain players is going to make such decisions very challenging.

What’s with the worry over cordner?? He’s not old. He’s only 28, albeit he’s copped a few concussions this season which have not helped one bit but I am backing him to return to his usual self after a much needed rest.
