  • It’s probably that Sam Walker is that good and is essentially a better player than Kyle is right now that the club is deciding to part ways and let him secure a starting spot elsewhere.

Also, that Suaalii kid, turn him into a massive 5/8.

Like Freddy and Wighton, big running blokes that are near unstoppable from 10 out. Step, run, pass or kick.

Manage Walker into the first grade with Keary. We could be playing for premierships for the next 10 years.
    ..it’ll be interesting to see

They scored the most points during the regular season so i don't know about this rule change affecting his game- seems to me he was always going to be a stop gap until Walker was ready - hard enough to be filling Cronks shoes let alone basically being a fill in until someone else is ready as it was reported quite a bit that Walker was the future half etc.

Not sure how others on here would feel - oh we signing you for 2 years but if x is deemed ready for NRL um you can leave after one year - I think Robbo's feeling the pressure and not handling it too well - his reactions in the Coaching box vs Penrith showed it

Both Flanno and Walker were signed until the end of next year.

I am sure if Flanno killed it this year that he would be the first choice halfback going forward. Maybe even keeping Walker in our system for a couple more years with the option of taking over Keary if he got injured/retired.

Unfortunately as a footballer I didn't see much improvement in Flanno from the beginning of the year. His defence was poor. His attack was just ok but didn't really develop. That is probably the reason we might be prepared to let him leave one year early.

The positive of him going to the Dogs is he can focus on his running game as he won't have to worry too much about goal kicking.

I'd have a dollar on us getting another halfback for 12 months as a backup for when Robbo believes Walker will be ready.

        • I think the potential of Flanno leaving does not have much to do with how he played but more the way he integrated into the playing group and how the leadership group/Robbo view him

          • Surely the Pearce rumours have no legs , that would be a step backwards.

            • Flanagan had a good chance to secure the position. The kid can't tackle. His kicking game is nothing much and he won't run the ball. This guy is not going to be a premiership winning half any time soon.

Too much hype/expectations especially on a young kid who is to be the playmaker aint always the best.
Good point about Pearce. The comparisons with the hype about young Sam Walker are very similar.

As to him returning? No chance. Id rather sign Benji for a cameo.

                • I'm hearing Walker is much closer to a Pongia than a Pearce.

That’s good because we need another tough as nails front rower

haha would you believe I even googled the spelling of his name too. What a goose I am. I meant Kalyn Ponga.

Wighton has shown that if u r a good footballer, you can adapt in about half a season, his kicking was very O when he started 6, but is acceptable now. Both big bodies, great runners, great vision and I reckon Joey has a great passing game in him, just that we haven't seen it released yet, remember the try he put on for Aubo in his 300...albeit a tad fwd..
No way Teddy to move from fullback. If he was at 6 the opposition would know where to find him. At fullback he can pop up anywhere.

Also, apart from the past few games he seemed to organise the defensive line things pretty well from fullback.

Well he is going to have to chuck a Latrell and leave us for Souffs (when Cook retires or leaves) or some other joke of a club saying all he ever wanted to do was play at hooker....
