How old is he now? I've always rated widdop, could be good for the right price.

BTW people we won 2 premierships in a row without a "real" recognised kicker
        Interesting point.

IMO, I didnt think a specialist kicker is as important as it once was. Games a rearely won of the back of goal kicking anymore thanks to the six again rule where momentum leading to tries is the big thing.

There were far many more blow out score lines this past season than close ones that may have been won or lost on the back of goal kicking.

the balls were different on those days - leather and when wet was like kicking a brick- Brass and Peardy were pretty good kickers though as was Cronin- even the late great Mark Harris could kick a few- don't think you can go into games without a consistent goal kicker though

turning 4 into 6 is paramount - going up by 6's

the Queen sounds like she/he would probably pick Darryl Halligan in front of Tupou or Morris
mmm how many games did Halligan win off his boot for teams that he played for especially the dogs compared to Toops or Morris scoring hat full's of tries which won matches- going up in 6's is paramount.

Halligan makes a living out of being a goal kicking coach

Gareth Widdop (born 12 March 1989) - 32 by the first kickoff.

                    • He was three points off being leading pointscorer in the NRL. It really doesn't make sense to move him on. If it is, as has been reported, because of salary cap pressure, there are one or two ageing forwards and one or two forwards not living up to promise that could be let go before him. I think he's done more than a reasonable job being a kid plonked in as a replacement for Cooper Cronk in a premiership winning team!

However, if a side or an edge’s 4s are down as a result of the goalkicker failing to convert enough opportunities into scores, it doesn’t matter
                        ..it’ll be interesting to see

                          • Widdop or Jimmy would be ideal for one year. Both good goal kickers and playmakers.
But I doubt either would come. Both on good wickets and I think both on at least two year contracts. We don't need them for two years.
Can't see either coming but would love either for 12 months.
