I honestly think the club has big plans for Walker and will not punt him as quickly as they did Flannigan. My opinion is that they want him to learn under Keary onfield and from Cronk off field and give him time to develop just like they did with Pearce. Cleary took 2-3 before he transferred his juniors talent to the first grade and Maloney carried him most of the time. Anyone expecting Walker to turn on the magic every game next year is deluded.

i think he needs to jump on the bong rather then the beers by the sound of it.

The way i see it is this, the club has ALWAYS had walker has our future 7. Our long term half who can hopefully turn into our next pearce ( longevity wise ) but knew he needed some time to develop and learn before he could don the rwb, so in hindsight we signed Kyle as a short term option while walker continues to develop. But seeing that Kyle didn't live up to the standard required maybe internally or externally and possibly with Sam showing the club that he has exceeded their expectation they thought f*** it why not give the chance to the kid and also possibly shed some cash and look to upgrade in other areas?? IMO

By then DCEs contract will have finished for manly, so he can come and replicate Cronks fairytale ending.

Flanagan is 22, Walker will be 19, there's 3 years more time that he's had

Didn't he play yawnion for some private school?

                        I suspect:
                        - The Drongos gave him a scholarship from the age of 12. He used it to go to a private school (where he played 1st XV aged 14), learned yawnion and realised that his local private school was offering more development than the Drongos (whose junior systems have all been gutted by the Drizzle anyway).
                        - Drongos paid $$$ to get Milford from the Faders (they paid waaay too much for him). In the meantime, Walker talked to his uncle (Chris - ex-Rooster) + dad (Ben - ex Drongo) and they confirmed that Easts have better systems (and mentors - stay with Milf + Seibold if you wanna get sacked and/or hooked on amphetamines).
                        - Sam went to Bondi with his dad. After ~5 years as a Drongo he'd gotten nothing. From day 1 we got Politis to pick him up in a Bentley, take him out to a restaurant in Double Bay and then hand him over to Robbo, Cronk, Keary and Cords to show him around the grounds/facilities. We guaranteed him $300k a year, a group house and training with the firsts (with Cronk and Keary as personal mentors).
                        - The Drongos' only response was 'you s*ck d!ck you traitor!!! They are a bunch of farkwits with no juniors'.
                        - Walker was like 'right so what development did you offer me again? A bong sesh with Milf, some life lessons from Darius, two sour-faced words of advice from Skeletor and access to a statue of Wally Lewis?'

As for his size... literally anybody can add a bit more red meat to their diet and do some weights. Skill caps out though. As a national sprinter I got to the point where I knew which 14 y/o's were gonna overtake me (and learned to accept it as a given) because my technique was too mechanical. The only advice coaches could give me is 'LOOSEN UP A BIT!!' I can't dance very well either. Some people just have more graceful movements/mechanics/neuromuscular pathways than others. I'm no footy expert (let alone expert on highly technical roles like halves) but watching videos of young Walker, the kid's got flow about him! Doesn't mean he's gonna be amazing but it means he's got a higher ceiling if he commits himself properly.

Chooks wont be waiting 3 years for him to come good for sure and certain - it's the Elvis mentality now at the Chooks - "It's now or never "

Pretty clear that the club sees Walker's ceiling as being much higher than Flanno's, hence the extra patience would be worthwhile.
