I don't see Souffs releasing him before the end of his contract if he's going to sign with us.

Which may actually work in our favour with Bmoz & Jmoz both coming off contract that year.

Also continual rumours that Chrichton will have to take a pay cut to stay on beyond next year.

I probably agree that some players may have to take cuts to stay, I really think the runours about Angus were started and perpetuated by Souths supporters and are baseless

If souths want Addo Carr they might have to let the kid go. especially as he has indicated he doesn't want to be there.

The kid would not be in their top tier cap so it would not impact who is coming or going at Souths

Honestly I don't even know where we stand with Crichton. I am praying he stays long term with us as he is so vital, but I just worry with him having to take a pay cut and the form he finished the season in, another club could throw much more at him... I almost shat my pants the other night when I saw him post on instagram a photo in a roosters jersey with the caption of a finish line emoji but then I realised it was probably signalling the end of the season (well at least I hope ahahah)

Problem with pay cuts is the NRL are still yet to finalise the salary cap for 2021. There may be pay cuts coming for every player in the game already.

The contract they offered him was over $550 K per year...... that impacts their cap. BIG TIME

That is their rumoured offer for 2022 and I would be cautious reading too much into that figure, its a figure released by Souths to the media because they're a little bitter over the whole situation. A bit like when Shane Richardson "leaked" to the press that Crichton was on $1m a year at the Roosters.

550k may be the total potential value of the contract including performance & rep bonuses the base of the contract would likely be far less than that.

Rumour has it he wanted release clauses inserted into his contract because its not clear what Souths will look like post Bennett and if Demetriou is actually going to be any good. You could see why the Roosters and Robbo would be an appealing proposition for a young kid.

I saw a reference on another forum to a Danny Weidler article about Suaalii's Instagram account 'liking' or 'following' the Roosters and no longer Souths. A possible indicator, I don't know, but it could be. I haven't seen or read it, and I don't know if anyone else has. Potentially interesting I suppose.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Justified if they are using him as an interchange player.

before he got injured he was playing 80min, so hopefully next year he is an 80min player again, because him and Radley being on the field for the majority of a match, makes our bench selection easier.

                          Home to roost?

Some of my social media-savvy sources have sent me what looks likea significant development in the Joseph Suaalii story: he is no longer following the Rabbitohs on Instagram. The only club he follows is – wait for it – the Sydney Roosters; the club that definitely wants him.

The Roosters are playing down their interest. The tricolours claim Wests Tigers, and maybe even the Broncos, are his likely destinations if he doesn’t re-sign with Souths. The Roosters would have to clear salary cap room to sign him.

Angus Crichton’s name has been mentioned to rival clubs, but he would be prepared to stay for less after his deal expires. Suaalii already has a $600,000-a-year offer on the table from Souths for 2022 and beyond. So the Rabbits think that’s the minimum the schoolboy sensation will accept.

Souths have made it clear to me they are ready to release him next year to rugby or any other NRL team – just not the Roosters. The Bondi-based club will challenge that if it reaches that stage. Roosters boss Nick Politis doesn’t lose out in these situations too often.

It was fascinating to watch Suaalii go through his paces in a sprint session during the week under the watchful eye of sprint coach Roger Fabri. There is no question the kid has athletic ability, but at this point he does not have blistering speed. He was being watched by two networks’ TV cameras – and almost no attention was being paid to Manase Fainu and Bryce Cartwright – two

Danny Weidler is an embarrassment to journalism, I mean seriously..

                            Social media-savvy sources????

It’s so hard taking these people seriously

What great investigative journalism by Weidler, trolling social media to get info. He really is the lowest of the low. He no doubt comes on here to get his ‘news’ too. He makes Hooper look intelligent.
