  • Left side attack

Seemingly this is the favoured side to attack on for most if not all teams and was wondering why this was the case. Is it a case of the weaker defenders defending on their right side or that a lot of players have difficulty in passing from left to right compared to passing from right to left.

Teams if the above was true could put their better defenders on their right side to combat the left side attack and force teams to go to their less favoured right side instead.

    Any views on this??

I'd assume it's because most people are right handed and the passes along the backline flow better to the left edge.
Then when you do have a talented left handed they are on that side and have a natural left foot step , right hand fend.
You are right salvo in most cases it's the more dangerous attacking edge.

“Over 83% of players are right handed in the NRL, which is why 70% of tries are scored on the left side of the field.”

“76% of players in the NRL are heavily dependent towards their right legs which provide the explosiveness and naturally transcend to the left side of the field.”

Some interesting points above. Good for the off season!

I wonder how much of this sort of stuff is being analysed by clubs to try and find a winning edge. If it is, I would like to think that we would be at the forefront, like in most areas of the game. Robbo is very analytical, so I would imagine so.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
