For years now the Dally M's have been the benchmark of mediocrity.

In Round 2 the Roosters lost to Manly by a single point and it was Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic who took the 3 votes. Tedesco got 2 for his 264 metres, six tackle busts and three offloads.

I think that's where we lose out. I find that voters:
- Have handed us 1 Clive Churchill from the last 3 grand finals (i.e. MoTM, which is regularly assumed to come from the winning team, is regularly given to our opposition when we win).
- Never give our players points when we lose.
- Always sneak in 1 or 2 opposition players for points when we win.
- Sorta assume our stars will play extremely well so are never amazed when they play well.

Isn't the voting based on the regular rounds of the season?
How about the preliminary finals and GF - not considered?
So someone like Wighton plays OK during the season, but he had a shocker in the Prelim against the Storm - he went MIA.
So he should have had 25% of his votes discarded and then he would have won sweet FA.
If he doesn't perform in the games that count, he doesn't deserve to win anything - simple
To be honest, I only remember which players step up in the finals series, that's all I remember at the end of the year, and years to come.
The Dally M's are a wankfest, nothing more.

I for one would like to see the love for vlandys diminish a bit, he didn't soley get the league going again on his own and I feel he couldn't combat the nepotism if his life depended on it.

And the same crap rolls on year after year plus the ridiculous application of the six again.

In that game Tommy T deserved the MoM performance, Teddy was great but Tommy single handedly won the game for Manly. It was one of the best fullback performances I have ever seen.

He has more say in the results of the games he plays in than just about any other player bar a couple - he is in my top five most valuable club players at the moment.

I don't think it's a scam but as a Canberra resident, he has been (a bit like Milford)... a heavily over-rated player who has failed to deliver his 'true potential' for roughly a decade. There have been lotsa seasons where he's disappointed by doing things like breaking his foot on a trampoline while drunk. In between he's been busted with violent crimes and stuff.

I'm all for giving a guy a second chance and as an indigenous kid I'm glad he's (seemingly) on the straight now. He's become a likeable, club-grade half after many years of shifting between fullback/centres/halves...etc due to poor form (from both him and his club).

THAT SAID... the Faders weren't THAT good this year, I feel he got a massive boost from sympathy votes over that bloody '6 again' whinge everybody's been having for the last 12 months and fark me... I don't think making the top-8 for 2 consecutive seasons makes him the best player in the comp. IMO the Faders have never quite taken responsibility for last year's loss (or learned the hard lessons) and they did worse this season as a result. I dunno how that turns into Dally M form! IMO he's just better known now and got the sympathy vote.

I guess it doesn't mean much and everybody knows Cleary was the best half this season. But still, IMO he didn't really deserve it given the Faders did worse this season than last (and his form didn't really lift at all).
