    This thread is hilarious.

Not sure what I find funnier, the fact that something like this causes such outrage or that women sport is considered ‘woke’. Ahhh to be back in the 50’s again....

If the ladies did have their own separate retirees parade, you couldn't do it before their grand final match. It would be just a few players going around the ground waving to a large number of empty seats...rather a hollow acknowledgement.
I dont see a problem giving the woman a parade before the main game, but if the issue is they shouldn't be mingled with the male players ...so give them a separate parade to the men, one after the other. Present the ladies first, then the guys ...problem solved !

If they are paraded in front of empty seats then its recognition for same empty seats they play in front of.

I get sick of hearing people whinging about this sorta cr@p.

Before somebody says it... no, I'm not even a feminist! Quite the opposite:
          - My ex spent ~2 years making false claims about me to police (got me arrested and charged once as we're in a jurisdiction that arrests males as soon as any woman claims there's been DV)... she then tried to murder me before taking our daughter overseas to an abduction black hole.
          - Throughout family court proceedings and Hague Convention mediation/hearings she basically lied, interrupted and used filibusters the whole time to prevent any logical/reasonable discussion about our custody arrangement. This included saying her conviction for attempt murder was a joke, I was the 'abusive one' and... poor little her. I had to listen to this BS.
          - During mediation our mediator was a known female rights activist (her twitter is absolute madness). Rather than mediating, she constantly shouted at me, belittled me and berated me instead of trying to get a good outcome for our daughter.
          - Meanwhile I studied law during a new wave of feminism. 90% of the criminal law, evidence, mental & the law and family law presentations I saw were middle-class women standing up (zero research), crying about how sad DV is and saying stuff like 'women should never go to prison + should own children + the house + all the money and super in divorce' (coz men always 'provoke' them and end up much better off). The lecturers (all lefties) would then be like 'clap clap clap... HD... amazing work... you clearly put a lot of effort into researching all of that.

I ramble but what I mean to say is that there's some delusional stuff going on out there + I'm not some 'how dare you' feminist trying to create solutions to problems that don't exist. HOWEVER, celebrating women who helped setup the first professional league isn't in that same category. I'm all for EQUALITY (not gratuitous leg-ups) and this is where that sorta thing starts.

Sure Maubs played lotsa games and has been the ultimate clubman. We've celebrated that on many occasions and I doubt he feels robbed. On the other end of the spectrum you have women who have funded their own training and played first grade for all those years. They've then been part of setting up the first ever professional women's league. In years to come it'll be a 16 team comp that people will just watch (remember the days when it seemed farcical that women could wear pants or work in professional jobs?)

In years to come I suspect the story will be reversed. Sims will be seen as one of the founders of professional women's footy (played for Australia + NSW...etc) and Maubs will be some random 'good bloke' standing next to her, who never played for NSW but was extremely versatile. If anything, I think this cements Maubs in history, guaranteeing he won't be forgotten. It's a pretty big honour IMO.

Sorry mate. Cant agree with ya there. Maubs will go down as one of the longest serving Roosters in history and to many, one of the greatest clubmen.

Who was one of the founders of womens soccer? Basketball? AFL? Cricket? etc... etc... etc...

No ones knows because it doesnt rate. Its reality. Its nice to be all PC and pretend it matters but to the vast majority, it doesnt.

Happy for them to play and happy for them to get their recognition but lets keep it proportionate.

what did aubo think? doesn't like the limelight so maybe he welcomed sharing it.
obviously the women aren't as good as the men, don't have as long a season etc but the plan is to grow the game overall so the nrl have not unreasonably decided to highlight the women's game atm.
times are uncertain for league and with a lot of women playing soccer and afl a path for women in league might help the survival of the game as a whole.
hopefully the women's game is strong enough to stand alone in a few years but in the meantime the idea is to give it a kick start. maybe women's league is not a long term goer but it seems silly to not give it a chance.

Womens GF was a decent game yesterday and would have been a much better spectacle on a dry day and pitch

lol 100%. The threat level some of these blokes see in women is embarrassing.

No. You probably only have to go back five or so years.

Some on here are stuck in the Victorian times when Women didn't even vote /work after they got married or have a life- Ruan Simms played for Ausrtralia in both Union and League in tests and world cups / NSW Origin and NSW Country for starters as well as in domestic state footy comps and the NRLW.

I thought the women's cricket world cup was great with the southern stars winning before a record crowd and tv audience - bit silly asking who was founder of womens soccer etc as the games were already invented- it would like that bloke who received a patent for his circular transportation facilitation device - it had already been invented though - i,e the wheel
