He wasn’t getting along with some players , it was clear by looking at his body language post match.

The kid has huge talent and a huge future.

Let’s not forget that he lost his halves coach due to the covid bubble.

Yes they did on the back of a fully fit squad. No way in hell they even make the finals this year with him in the side and Williams not here.

Reports that we paid 100k to release flanno early are troubling and bad business as far as I'm concerned.
The dogs wanted him and offered more than what he was on here by all reports so why pay them to take him.

Agreed. It seems like the quicker we got rid of him the better we didn’t want anything to do with this bloke past 2020. Strange but TIT

IMO one thing we do well is keeping any personal conflicts within our four walls.

Hastings, Latrell, Flanno...etc all had dignified exits where we helped find 'em a club, facilitated their release ASAP and wished them all the best without saying a bad word about 'em.

Excellent rumour control IMO. The 'experts' can try to make-up whatever they like but unless the players leak to them or one of our senior group leaks (i.e. Friend, Cords, JWH, Keary, Teddy, Robbo or Nick) then nothing goes public except the outcome.

The departure payment for Flanagan may have come out of this years salary cap, where we might’ve had leeway to do so.
Contracts run from Nov 1 - Oct 31 each year.
                ..it’ll be interesting to see

Read what Flanno wrote in Instagram and I still have nothing but praise for the kid. It was well written.

I have absolutely no ill will towards Flanno. He fundamentally seems to be a good kid who deserves his chance and opportunity at the Bulldogs. I wish him well, and the outcome is a win-win. I also trust in Trent and whatever our club is doing.

Here is to 2021 - onwards and upwards going forward.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Geez, Kyle shows a lot of maturity in this interview. Great honesty and refreshing to hear so soon without coming across bitter.

Also shows how ruthless we are as a club. I feel the mid-season rule change that suited running halves was the death knell for the lad.
Kyle Flanagan says he was left "empty" when the Roosters informed him they would be cutting his time in Bon...

Agreed. Seems like Robbo may remix our style to suit a faster, momentum focused game. No other reason why we’d force Flanagan out so soon (doubt it was attitude problems or that he ‘cost us the GF’). I hope Flanagan goes well, seemed like a good guy

Who knows. Maybe Robbo was going to replace Flanno for the remainder of the season with Lam but then Lam was injured, forcing Robbo to use Flanno for the rest of the year. Food for thought.

just watched what flanno had to say. wow feel really sorry for him and I don't doubt he did his best this year. people who think robbo is a soft touch need to have a rethink, quite brutal. but the flip side is we are successful.
I really do wish young Kyle nothing but the best and a long fruitful career in first grade. hope you can drag the dogs up the ladder but not ahead of the roosters of course. well done Kyle don't lose heart.

I didn't mind Flannagan in our team, but he needed to show more than he did, and show potential
To be an NRL half back you need to show game management skills , and a passing game, as well as being good/or have potential in either attack or defence.
In attack , a running game or evasive skills ( supposedly Walker has this)
Or a strong defensive game (ala Cronk, who possessed a short passing game as well) .
So in fairness, Flannagan didn't tick either of these boxes when it comes down these 2 areas, and so the Roosters punted him.
Our side cannot wait for years for him to develop his game- we are not rebuilding, and we have a premiership winning side as our roster.
Its hard enough winning another premiership - but its nearly impossible to do if you have a weak link in your side.

I agree and I think that's exactly what happened.

Could be wrong but I reckon Robbo looks for ball running and passing skills above all in a half. He wants somebody who will ALWAYS make the right decision when passing and have the cojones to take on the line at speed.

All I can think is that it's a little bit like why no professional coach would take me on as a 100m sprinter (only 400's). They'd take one look at my style and say 'you've clearly put a lot of work into that haven't you, my boy... yeah... I can't squeeze any more 100m speed out of you I'm afraid'. Something about neuromuscular pathways. You've either got one of those super quick brains or you don't.

Robbo will pick incomplete halves like Watson and Lam ahead of guys like Hastings/Pearce/Flanno who have fuller games because they react quicker. I reckon he figures that you either have that super fast twitch about you as a half or you don't. If you don't then you can probably improve a lot through practice and have a great career but you simply won't be able to keep up with his expectations. Watson, Lam and Walker are all instinctive halves who will see a tiny hole and turn it into an opportunity. I figure that if you're gonna have a teeny tiny dude on the field then he MUST be able to do that. Every generation has 1 or 2 kids who are capable...
