I know a lot on here couldnt give a sh!t about Cameron Smith but being probably the best player to ever play the game it surprises me that he has made no announcement about what is happening with him. He is not in the Melbourne team on their website. He hasnt announced his retirement & all teams are back at training & he is not with any team.

It just smacks of arrogance to not inform relevant parties of his decision...not untypical of how hes conducted himself during his career.

agreed, i respect c smith. but reeks of arrogance in the extreme to either a) not announce retirement. b) not annpunce he is playing at the storm c) announce he is going to another club. the guy can play, probably the best ive seen at controlling a game and tempo. but the guy is a prick, wanker and a carnt, the wrestle ? didnt know about slaary cap breaches despite signing 2 contracts? first class player. first class wanker as well.

Have to disagree with you there 13 - the fans, the players and the media all have equal share and responsibility for this game to survive.

In my opinion, this arrogance shown by Smith will tarnish his legacy as a player.

The games hasn't belonged to the fans for a long time. Essentially its none of our business whether he plays or not.
Such is the game now, the only people that are entitled to know are those that have a financial interest with the storm or NRL in whether he plays or not. By the NRL's own actions being a fan or a member does not count.

Smith plays to his own drum. He can do whatever he wants, he owes nothing to anyone. He is a different character, determined, single minded, and ruthless. I think he has been the smartest player ever to play the game. I hated his manipulation of the rules, but it got results.

The media especially Paul Kent were wankers to him this year so he’s giving them nothing. It’s made me like Smith infinitely more, most players don’t have the kinda pull where ignoring the media will impose any reaction. Smith leaving them in the dark is exactly what they deserve.
