Such is the game now, the only people that are entitled to know are those that have a financial interest with the storm or NRL in whether he plays or not. By the NRL's own actions being a fan or a member does not count.
What other Premiership captain, SOO great & Australian great has made no announcement about retiring or playing for another club?
    None.
Its just weird that probably the best player to ever play the game seems to have disappeared off the planet.

i guess , when describing c smith the first word i think of is cheat. but still the cheat i wish i had at my club, he was just smarter about it. a total paradox. but well done cameron , ypu werent the biggest, fastest nor the strongest, but you beat everyone players, administators , referees by being smarter, more intelligent, wily, alert. for that i grudingly give you respect.

The first two words I think of are Alex McKinnon.

To me celebrating Cam is a bit like celebrating Jinping or Putin as leaders. While one can roll out a bunch of respectable achievements for all of them, they're a bunch of smug d!ckheads who have done more harm than good to most people.

I'm not saying Cam's a dictator, but he's a figurehead of a disreputable regime that hasn't earned the respect of the NRL community. Say what you like... Cam woulda known what was up with the salary cap and at very least shoulda known that McKinnon's welfare was the #1 priority. I'm sure he's a confident, friendly and knowledgable individual but so what? Anybody that senior and experienced will have the gift of the gab (and the confidence that comes with seniority).

            BUT...
            - All of his stats are boosted by 1/2 a decade of cheating. One that him, his accountant and manager woulda known about if they put their mind to if they'd traced where the money was coming from. IMO ignorance isn't good enough! Pay coming from a range of weird accounts rather than just one (i.e. the Melbourne Storm's main payroll account) is weird.
            - Cam's never addressed the above with any sense of humility. Never. Forget apologetic, he's not even sympathetic! He thinks he's the victim of all this!!! To me that's really low class. All we get is his smug face and a wall of denial about any knowledge/involvement. It's just bollocks!
            - Cam hasn't won any community awards. He's done absolutely nothing to grow the fanbase or junior systems in Melbourne. Nothing! I mean you'd think having the world's most decorated player in town would get a bunch of youngsters excited about League? Nup. They're still just a 2nd Brisbane club (and Cam ain't travelling to Brisbane to feed their feeders). He's been gifted success, but hasn't converted it into fans or inspired a generation of juniors.
            - His (failed) biography sums it up. Nobody cares about Cam as a human. His wall of lies/denial (as opposed to having a frank/quirky tale) compromises his image because nobody cares. There's nothing interesting about him or his 'achievements'. We all know the story of how his first 5 years involved systematic cheating and that's all we need to know. Had he started off playing for the Titans, he'd probably have no premierships and a much more ordinary set of stats.

I normally jump at the chance to read a good book about league. My prized possession as a youngster was a book called Inside Rugby League, it was the autobiography of Ian Walsh and as an 11 yr old I read it cover to cover and was totally enthralled. But I refuse to spend money and time reading Mr Smith's book. I respect his achievements but he has that 'taint' about him that means I just can't like him or even respect him

There’s a very interesting chapter called “Alex” in Smith’s autobiography.

It reminds me of the 2000 season and the Chooks were flying. Naturally I thought Fittler was the messiah and that Andrew Johns wasn’t even close. Then a mate of mine took me to a Newcastle game and said just watch him, so I did. I was in awe, the halfback did it all, he barely stopped and was clearly the best player on the park by a mile.
From that day on I stopped being so one-eyed about the Roosters and learned to appreciate the opposition. It was the same with watching old origin games with Wally.

If you can appreciate top players from all the other teams then it makes it all the better when you watch the Roosters play against them & win. I love it when the Chooks play another team & its a tight match up until the siren & the Chooks win or lose by 1 or 2. I dont love them losing but those type of games are the ones that I enjoy the most.
My second favourite teams are the 15 other clubs the Mighty Roosters get to play.

So after disowning his best mate for moving to Sydney to play for the Roosters, he's going to do the same thing? Sounds about as likely as the new Roosters jersey being red, white & green.

I think he will sign with the Titans & if he stays fit I reckon he can get them in the top 4. Dont know about winning the comp but top 4 for sure.

What’s the go with this guy- is he retiring or is he playing on - if he is playing / who for. Why all this bullshit.

I honestly couldn’t care less anymore. He is one of the greatest of all time but IMO boring as batshit to watch. I don’t turn up to league games to watch guys like him play / as valuable as he is - he doesn’t entertain me.
