  • A sense of Rebuilding?

I dunno about anyone here but these next few seasons personally I feel are going to be a rebuilding phase. Sure we can compete however, looking at the squad now and us being one of the oldest teams is making me feel this way.

The Morris' to me seem like this will probably be their last season.

Cordner is unfortunately in a situation where another concussion or 2 means is career is over.

JWH seems to have lingering injuries that impact his consistency on the field.

Friend seems to cope a new long term injury every year.

Sure we can still complete however we should be looking to bleed the youth in knowing how old the team is. I'm not denying that the team can still compete however, these older players have these issues impacting consistency.

These next few seasons to me seem like a rebuild might be in place depending on the status of these older players. The likes of Billy Smith, Suualli, Sitilli, Walker, Collins, Verills and other youngsters need to be bleed through over these next 2-3 seasons. I foresee 1-3 Cronk/Keary/Tedesco type signings to compliment these younger players alongside Tedesco, Rads, Manu and Keary.

As a Roosters fan I hope for the best and obviously want the club to be winning Premierships but I believe that we need to understand that if we don't win these Premierships, then we might have to take these seasons as rebuilds as we slowly bleed in these younger players while letting these older players move on.

as long as we don't have another 2009
There's a reason why the young and idealistic become the old and cynical.
    It's called experience.

Talking more recently, and considering the amount of games he's played over his career, it seems like its taking a bit of toll on his body

Some of the mainstays in our team for the last 5 years are in the twilight of their careers for sure but we have some good stock coming through. Lindsay and SST will take up the baton from JWH, hopefully Walker and Sualli are as good as we think, then there's Billy Smith on top of that. Radley is still to play his best footy and will hopefully fill that leadership void when Jared, Boyd and Jake retire. Teddy and Keary are both in their prime. Still the core of a very strong team, just need to add a player here and there which I'm sure we will do over time

We have lost SBW, Maubs, Hall and Flanno.
We gain Rads, Verrills, Smith and Walker plus others. Players like Collins and Sitili will be better for another season under their belt.
Injuries caught up with us this year and the long term which hurt us were with our younger players. That plus the mid-season rule changes which we didn't adapt to and the fact we were 0-2 when the season restarted and we probably used up a lot of juice trying to start off on the front foot. It had nothing to do with age that the media are spinning. The three oldest teams finished in the Top 4.
We won the comp the previous two years with that old hack Cronk but injuries were kind to us.
I think we will be stronger next year and give it a good shake.

May have a older team but we have the best of the best in terms of youth coming through to push the older players ie: Collins pushing JWH for starting spot , Lam+verills pushing friend ! Every week Trent will pick our best 17 for every match up that week in week out then closer to round 15 we have closer look at our GF team bar injuries

That being said No wayyyyy are we Rebuilding??!!!!!

what were doing is to win every year

REBUILDING IS JUST A COP OUT EXCUSE

                  Roosters is better than that!

I hope we don’t bleed the youth Rooster Boi - maybe you meant blood them?

The word I would use is rejuvenate instead of rebuild. The core group is still there. Rads and Sammy V coming back. Not to mention Gus and Collins pushing for starting roles. I think we are in a good spot. Halfback and goal kicking are question marks but Robbo has all off-season to figure it out.

At Easts, we don't 'rebuild', we EVOLVE. We are the best run club in the NRL. And we have Uncle Nick at the helm. Every team needs a balance of both youth and experience. We will be fine. Go Easts.

I guess I just drank the media's negativity, everyone has provided me with great points, maybe I should be more optimistic! Here's to a great 2021 season!

“Rebuilding” is just an excuse to be shit.

Only the shit clubs need to “rebuild”.

RoosterBoi I hope the exams went well.
