  • Widdop on the cards

Just letting you guys know its been heavily considered and could be announced pretty soon. Wouldn’t mind for 1-2years on the cheap and a great goal kicker. Reminds me of a Maloney type player

He's an awesome player. Would take him for a year or two while Walker learns the ropes. He'd get on well with Cronk too (previous halves pairing...etc).

Surely that [sic] Keaghran bloke didn't come here to play for the Bears though? I mean Keary, Lam, Walker, Hutcho, Keegz and Widdop? It's start looking like Souffs' backline.

Won't happen. There are about 6-7 clubs interested and it won't be us. Why?

Where the money is coming from if this is really being suggested for a start. Unless the idea is to use Morris's x 2 money on him for 2022.

That aside - Keary, Lam, Keaghan, Walker...a log jam in the halves.

Not to mention Keary is going nowhere, Lam just resigned, Keaghan just signed, and Walker is apparently the second coming of god.

Widdop is class. But I'd be surprised if we got him.

Agree. Even though he said he is coming for much less money I can't see us getting him when we have so many back-ups.
Having said that he would top that list by a mile until Walker is ready and we don't know if/when Walker will be ready.
As long as no other signing impacts us keeping Gussy.

if he said he'd play for us for 150k for one season you'd take him like a shot.

No way do we sign Widdop.

Lachlan Lam will start the year at halfback and will have an excellent season.

It's easy to forget that he's still only 22 yrs of age so there's no reason to not have faith in Robbo's decision making. He obviously sees a lot to like in Lam/Walker and I'm willing to trust his judgement.

I dont believe the Chooks have the guys in the halves to win us a comp. Keary needs more than a rookie in the halves with him, I would entertain the thought. 6. Widdop 7 Keary.
Its sort of got that get rid of Pearce/Flanno & bring in major experience Cronk/Widdop feeling.

Sounds terrific. Thanks for letting us know.
I knew Nick was planning something, we can't lose all those players and pick up no one.

It’s a big yes from me. Maybe he wants to win something after being at Saints all these years.

We are not winning the comp next year with Lam or Walker at half. Not to the mention the fact that we are short a prop.

Possibly back to the Dragons? I heard him and Tyson left coz their significant others got jack of them hanging around dudes like de Belin after games.

Widdop would be a good signing for a year and at the same time nurturing Walker to take over in 2022..

Sadly I can’t see us winning a comp with Lachlan Lam at 7!

Would solve the goal kicking problems too.

Gee we make some excuses, we can’t win the comp with players like Tedesco, keary,Radley,Toops ,Manu,SST,JWH and Angus in the same team? Throw in friend, verrills Morris’ and state of origin Lindsey.

Robbo now has 2 of the best young prospects in sualii and walker to go with the endless talent and experience of probably 5 of the best players in their positions in the world, that any other coach could only dream about.

No excuses for Robbo or the supporters.

No Widdop is too injury prone. He is 1 dislocated shoulder (3 times on 1 shoulder already) away from retirement. At his peak he was all class....but those days are behind him.
