I would feel more confident with this season if the Chooks did sign Widdop.
In saying that for all I know Lam is going to kill it.

Brad Burke his brother also played 2 seasons for the Chooks with not much success one has to say - those were the days - Chooks even signed a semi pro tennis player - Rob McClusky who played 1 game. -1988 to 1994 was not a particular good period- 1992 Chooks finished 6th missing the finals by 1 point the only highlight.

I believe he would be a great pickup for our team but only at the right price, adding experience to our halves and also a very good goal kicker.
They are best to save their money and invest in and develop the players they have. Lam/Walker/Volkman for instance- Volkman could well be the best of the three- mmm that is plum LBW there - Pucovski out for 62

Widdop certainly a class player with all the skills including goal kicking and versatility, and $300K seems like very good value, his shoulder is certainly a worry being dislocated 3 times, all because he made every effort to score or stop a try. If we have the space then it may happen, but again I think we really need to be looking for a PROP. The speed of the new game will put a lot of pressure on the big middle and there will be a need to rotate them

              Something smells with Widdop.
Despite having such a low price and no clubs taking him, coupled with his hasty exit from Aus last time. NQR
Look at Pearce or Norman, they still manage to find clubs who’ll pay them a motza.
              ..it’ll be interesting to see

I don't quite get why we would pick him up for 300k. Like the Morris lads he would.deliver.way over that dollar figure, and our options at 7 are no better than this time last year.

I'd rather us use some money on a young forward, we have more then enough depth in the halves with hutchinson being resigned and the addition of kreighan, albeit they might not be the most flashiest players but the potential is there for walker lam etc.

He's probably 1 injury away from retirement thats all I can think of. 1 missed timed tackle to his injured shoulders & its probaly career over.
