If we got Widdop then at least you still have 1 top line half if Keary go's down.

    Storm Hughes Munster
    Souths Reynolds walker
    Penrith Cleary Luai
    Canberra Williams & Wighton
Luai and Hughes were virtually untested prior to last year and were not considered top line halves.

    Have faith. Dont knee-jerk.

      Totally.

Pass marks for Trewhella, Beecraft and maybe Hall and Georgialis.

My god I loved that team.

Look at the names in that side of not so long ago - no Slades, Jahromes, Shontelles, Lattrells, Shaquelles (sic) - women of the past 30 years got a lot to answer for. I always thought that the switch to modern nuttiness was finally thrown when that sheila hijacked the chopper and rescued the boyfriend from the Silverwater big house. You see it everywhere nowadays (nuttiness that is) - in the ravings here of Jax and '08 for example.
By the way that helicopter bloke was in Silverwater for armed bank robbery - he was from Sydney and bailed up a country bank on foot, no car FFS!

The last ball boy is the conduit to the future.

I’d think it’s more to do with the commonness of everyone’s names. When you’ve got four Steve’s, three Paul’s and two David’s in a team, it no wonder that everyone had a nickname.
              ..it’ll be interesting to see

I dunno, it wasn't like that in the past. After the war we weren't that keen on the USA, we were still British influenced. Since then American "soft" power has most of us in thrall - the names are just one symptom of that cultural Imperialism. Many appear to think that this IS the US - all that carry on about the "tragedy" of 9/11. Cheering on Goliath.
China's century is now upon us and is, clearly, our future but it will always seem alien because of the triumph of Yankee cultural dominance.

I think there is a cream for that...

Yeah Skeez, nice comment re "Cooper" - the same Cooper Silk who started Roosters media. Son of Daryl a former lower grade toiler and Colts stalwart (my old side) with a pretty successful junior coaching record.

Those 2 have been on the radar of their respected clubs for at least the last 3 seasons. Hughes was being talked up when he was playing SG ball for the Roosters & Luai has been talked up since he debut 3 years ago when Cleary was injured. They are/were both further ahead then Lam, Walker & Keighran at the same stage of their careers but Im not here to talk about them my point was more about why it would be a good move if the Chooks brought Widdop for a couple of years just in case Keary breaks down leaving you with 3 untested halves that will not win you a comp. No knee-jerk here mate just thinking about the big picture if Keary go's down.

Young Cooper however played his illustrious junior career with the mighty Bondi United (my old team)

Yep, anyone with any real talent in the old East junior comp went and played for United with a few exceptions - Bunny Reilly, Brian Fletcher, Ian Mackay. The all grades Rooster old boy roll call of exUnited must be lengthy with some great names on it - Junee, Mayes, Bomber Peard, Les Hayes. Wonderful, legendary club.

On the odd occasion that both of you do come to mind, it's a sort of Ripley's "Believe it or Not" occasion - Both working class blokes who wanna see wages cut even further and who vote for a political organisation with policies diametrically opposed to one fella's core values - go figure! (or are they bullshit core values?)

On a more positive note I did like Jax's "Adrian Quist" rhyming slang reference. Had dim recollection but the English "Franz List"was more common along with the Aussie "Elephants" (trunk).

What used to annoy me was the pathetic Middle class (like those fakes who read the commercial channel news) attempts at the Jackie. Years ago there was a show about a bloke with cancer - "Jimmy Dancer" it was called. Never heard of it and so lame....lacking an atom of humour or allusion. "The Bengal Lancer" it was in my day - "He's got the Bengal and he takes heaps of Persian rugs".
