unfortunately all the new rule changes are not being made with people who already love the game and can appreciate such games as we have mentioned.

they are aimed at attracting new fans and that unfortunately means entertaining them immediately and often with no room left for a defensive arm wrestle that so many existing supporters still love to see.
I was sitting at the back of the Chookpen for the Manly game, what a night it was. Definitely the most tense game of footy I have been to. The atmosphere was brilliant.

I was a few rows down from you by the sounds of it
The guy next to me would not stop fidgeting poor bugger. I should get my avatar printed onto T-shirts..
I had to put some Metallica on to calm the atmosphere... I really must watch that game again over the holidays. Thanks for the reminder..

Found the link for the 2nd half if anyone's interested.

Metallica - nice choice. Great band. During the game I could barely drink my beer, that's how tense I was.

i could only watch the first 20 mins on TV cos there'd be a death in the family and i had to be somewhere so saw the first try and then couldn't believe that that had been enough to win. watched the replay and marvelled at our efford in d similar to our efforts in d in last year's prelim and gf.

It will mean games are played for 80 minutes then with 4 points on offer - currently if teams have a big half time lead the games over and viewers drop off - under my idea the interest will be maintained as there is something to play for in the second half - the one point.

Same as another one of mine the scorer optional kick off - can happen any time during the game the scorer can elect to receive the kick off or kick off - x scores and converts and are 4 points down with 1 1/2 minutes to go - they elect to kick off - they kick off and regather the ball - they have 5 tackles inside the oppositions 40 to score and convert to win the game - certainly a better one than the non scoring team kicking off - they kick long and the other team has 6 tackles to go 100 metres to score and convert.

NRL needs to come up with better rule changes than 2 points for field goals kicked oustide the 40 - are they kidding - is that the best they could come up with? - oh and the ref to call break so players dont leave the scrum early - wow these are revolutionary rule changes sure to bring back the crowds to games and eye balls to TV Screens -not.

LOL..just reading an interview with Lars in Rolling Stone now..That semi final truly was epic. I don't drink but I do remember going through a whole bag of retro party mix lollies during that game..Looking forward to revisiting a few of them over summer. The games that is...and maybe the lollies too...

But in the example you gave, only one team played for 80 mins. It is a change that thankfully won't happen because it has the potential to reward mediocrity and turn the game into the farce that is Super Rugby

NRL has to get with the times though in having a different points system for games especially if blow outs as they call them become the norm and not the exception - They have already changed it with golden point- Team A beats team B 58-0 they receive 2 points the same as Team C beating Team D 7-6 after Team D led 6-4 at half time - under my one Team A would get all 4 points and Team C 3 and Team D 1

So because we lapped the Bronco's last year we deserved more points then Penrith did when they upset Melbourne down in Melbourne??

I found the 2019 GF more stressful because we just seemed to be under the pump for the whole 2nd half. In the Manly game, we seemed to have preiods where we had some breathing space at least

Yes I can't watch it either again so I'm giving my DVD to Andy when he moves over this way. It was a not so good time for me health wise either that weekend and we were also having trouble with bad neighbours too that night so all in all not a happy time. The worst was having to deal with the ordinary comments coming from people, or I should say sheeple, jumping on the whinging 6 to go bandwagon too..people who don't know much about NRL, let alone follow Canberra. I did buy a couple of different B2B T-shirts though..
