Wayne Bennett does this at every club he coaches & that is he buys many players to win the comp then moves on only to see that club collapse 12 months later.
So it looks like Souths are going to be nowhere in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.Comment

In 2005 a 20-something year old by the name of Benji Marshall won the Tigpies a premiership by taking a hell of a lot of risks (mostly taking on the line + doing lotsa hail mary passes). This was exciting and inspired a lot of players.
2014... after ~10 years in the NRL this Benji dude had lost form and decided to give yawnion a try. His seitch to yawnion was a failure as he knew how to do high risk plays... not highly structured plays such as positional box kicks.
Since 2015 he's changed clubs pretty much every year, lacked form and been on bottom dollar contracts. His technical skills aren't bad but they aren't great either.
In 2021, Wayne's shown interest in Bunji. This is consistent with previous recruitment practices where (for example) he's recruited the likes of Timana Tahu, Willie Mason, Darius Boyd, James Roberts, Dane Gagai...etc then punts them when somebody more expensive enters the market. He regularly signs the same punted player twice, using different clubs. Benji is an example of this unique 'super coach' tactic as Wayne told him to fark off at the Broncos... before leaving them (thinking he could bag a free premiership with Souffs as they had a pre-baked team). l'm amazed other coaches don't use this tactic more often!

I think the only time he will get a game is when either Reynolds or Walker are injured- Can't see him being on the bench say as a second DH or as one of the interchange players either. - He is on 324 NRL games and trying to overtake Adam Blair on 331 games for most games by a Kiwi in the NRL - Don't think he will get there - 8 games or appearances required.Comment

Always had a soft spot for Benji and really feel for the bloke now he has been reduced to joining souths.
I do worry that Bennett is going to get a fairytale this year and it makes me feel illThe Internet is a place for posting silly things
