  • Most Anticipated 2021 Club Debutant

The Roosters community have thrown their support behind a clear winner in the most anticipated 2021 club debutant Player Poll.

Despite the strong contenders in line to debut for the Club in 2021 and beyond, young halfback Sam Walker appears to be the favourite among the community.

Walker polled 45% of the total votes, while Joseph Suaalii came in second place with 24%.

After spending plenty of time with the first grade squad in 2020, Walker is enjoying his first full NRL pre-season as he strives towards a career playing first grade rugby league.
Walker was voted as the player yet to debut for the Roosters that the community want to see the most.

    POLL RESULTS
    1. Sam Walker: 45%
    2. Joseph Suaalii: 24%
    3. Fletcher Baker: 15%
    4. Adam Keighran: 8%
    5. Egan Butcher: 7%

He looks like he has put on a bit of size. I just hope he is as good as what they are saying.

Nickname Walks, where did they get that from?

Born in England, interesting. Looks like he will be playing International football then.

I like his favourite player growing up.

That’s incorrect he was born up in Ipswich.

Interesting that Jimmy Maloney was his favourite player when growing up. Suggests he mighta been a chooks fan as a kid if he's talking about the ~2013 era?

Mick, can you get back to helping Robbo out instead of Madge and report back exactly how much size Walks has put on.
            ..it’ll be interesting to see

It would be correct as his Dad (Ben Walker) was playing for Leeds Rhino's at the time in 2002- their season runs from Feb to September usually - 2021 it will start in March- mmm could he be eligible for England/Great Britain in that case?

If a child is born in the UK and if, at the time of birth, at least one of their parents has British citizenship or settled status, then the child automatically qualifies as a British citizen and can easily get a passport.

I voted for Walks assuming he was more likely to play firsts this year.

                    I voted for Benji.
I was surprised he didn't make the Top 5.

I am helping Robbo out he’s the one who told me to go there. He wants me to come up with the game plan for Rd 3.
Madge is a good bloke because he has the same hair style as me.

Ive done a few weights session with Walks & he’s looking good & I’ve let Robbo know & he said let me know when you think he’ll be ready to go Mickie.

I know Volkman wasn't listed but from reports he is really impressing at training - if he gets a 30 player contract i would say Volkman

Poll Results | Most Improved In 2021

The Roosters community have had their say on who they think will be the most improved Roosters for the 2021 season.

Despite it being a tight contest in the early stages, Lachlan Lam wound up as the clear cut favourite by the end of the poll.

Lam made his season debut from the bench in 2020 against the Cowboys in round 9, making an immediate impact playing at hooker.

In round 13 he received his first start of the season at halfback and was quite impressive alongside Luke Keary.

With a spot up for grabs for the 2021 campaign, fans are CLEARLY eagerly awaiting to see what Lam will provide wherever he may be in the line-up.

Billy Smith trailed Lam to rank second in the poll after being removed from the Recovery Update ahead of the new season.
Lachlan Lam has been tauted as the most improved in 2021.
                          Lachlan Lam 2021 profile

                          POLL RESULTS
                          Lachlan Lam: 36%
                          Billy Smith: 27%
                          Daniel Suluka-Fifita: 12%
                          Matt Ikuvalu: 12%
                          Freddy Lussick: 10%
                          Drew Hutchison: 4%

How good would it be to see Lammy turn out to be a star. A Roosters junior who's dad was a champion both play at the MIGHTY ROOSTERS.
I know the jury is still out on Lammy Jnr but it all fairness he hasnt been able to have a full crack in the run on side. Look at a bloke like Jahrome Hughes who was in & out & playing different positions for 2 or 3 years at Melbourne but after learning the craft of FG he is now considered a very good halfback.

Well said Mick, I will give my honest take on Lam and why I hsve been in his corner since he began training with the NRL squad.

I love a half (ie 6 or 7) with fast feet who poses an attacking threat. Now thats not downplaying that you need an organiser in your halves as well and that may not be his strength. But he's footy smart and to quote Robbo "a real footballer".

He's been cruelled by untimely injuries twice when he looked likely to get a gig in his best position (6). Not big ones just enough to sideline him at the wrong time.

i also want him to succeed because he is Easts to his bootstraps and has stayed loyal to the club. Always running the drills, celebrating in the sheds with the guys, usually when not playing. The guys seem to like playing with him too which is important.

As good as Dad? No way, he was a gun.

Walker is just waiting for his chance and he will be great at the right time. It may not be a long wait now.

In the meantime , go the local boy.

Sam Walker is the most anticipated for mine in a clear two horse race. Also agree that Lachlan Lam is likely to be the most improved player this season, although I rate Fifita.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
