I blame the coaches too, they had all year to fix his defensive issues, and work on making him a better attacking player, they knew the player they were buying, it’s not like he was a superstar at the sharks,

time for Robbo to stop talking the psycho-babble and realise you can’t keep buying the best players every year to win the comp, and get the best out of the ones you do go out and buy.

      Nailed it.

The sooky little flog has spent the past 6-8 months crying about being dropped. It's now mid January and he's still doing it!

Grow up ffs. Thank fark we got rid of him.

And newsflash Flanno... you were dropped because you offered ZERO threat to the defensive line.

In my opinion it was a bit harsh as he had a solid season and we need a goal kicker. On the other side he was generally average to poor in defence and is very limited with what he offered in attack. I guess the coach felt he wasn’t going to develop into what we want and the others like Walker have more upside. I can understand why he would feel hard done by though.
Unfortunately for him professional sports is all about winning

Until someone at Easts comes out and explains why he was sacked, I’ll reserve judgment.

I’m sure Kyle would have been told exactly the reasons so he should not be in a state of shock. He can disagree with the reasons presented or try to make himself a better player.

FWIW I thought he was solid for a rookie running a Blue-Chip team. Goal kicking his strength. No true length in tackle 5 clearance kicks.
Tackling ok. Reading tackles - can go astray but that’s experience. Running a team - ditto.

I think bubble meant no Cronk and that must of hurt his development

Victor commented this “‍♂️“ one the fox league Instagram post of this article.

It seems pretty clear there’s more to all this and Flanagan doesn’t want to accept any accountability for it.

*Edit* well the emoji isn’t showing up but it’s a dude face palming himself haha, it says a lot without saying anything

Flanno was treated harshly by the Chooks.
He wasn’t playing badly, he never over played his hand, he let Keary & Teddy do the organizing & if he had of tried to be more controlling people would of complained. Radley getting injured didn’t help either. I hope he go’s good at the Dogs & I still believe over time he will be a very good halfback.

He wasn't treated harshly at all. He got 20 odd games of first grade footy for the defending premiers, where he may have been fortunate to even get that sort of opportunity.

The big error we made was in recruiting him in the first place, we don't get too many wrong these days though.

I think it's all rubbish all these reasons as the stats dont back it up- to say sorry we dont think you can get any better is either bunkum or poor coaching.

More likely he was punted because the Chooks had cap problems (why Farmer with 2 years left was released)/ Robbo was sick of being phoned by Flanno snr and they didn't want to lose Walker - Lam is possibly only warming the seat until Walker is ready - If Flanagan stays he might have left as he might not have seen an opportunity existed ?.

Interesting missed tackles stats and the halves who missed more than Flanagan i.e Peacre (77)/Moses (63)/Cleary(51) Taylor(70)- 5/8's include Luai (65) Munster (59) Walker (49) - Flanagan -45 - he defended on the right side vs the oppositions left side attack - the side where teams score most of their tries on.

He was treated harshly because when the team is winning & your the top point scorer in the NRL you shouldn’t be dropped. If L Lam was playing solid footy this year & is the top point scorer after 12 or so rounds & then gets dropped I’m sure you would think that’s harsh.

He was punted because the Roosters have a “team first” culture and if you can’t work within that you’re gonski.

He simply wasn’t a team player and as a result didn’t gel with the boys.

Another example of this is Latrell

Should that occur, there would be a reason for getting dropped though.

I think a few of the Aus Cricketers might be dropped (Wade/Stark) - The Indian net bowlers are thumping the Aussie bowlers to all parts - wonder how many Indian's have Washington as a first name?

This. Especially for such a crucial position.

I’ve said it before, if victor never got injured, Flanno would never had needed to get dropped, he was doing the job he was recruited for while we had a full squad. He kicked well, backed up extremely well, and didn’t need to overplay his hand.

Bulldogs recruit Kyle Flanagan has blasted the Roosters’ decision to axe him after just one season at the Bondi club and questioned Trent Robinson in the process.

Flanagan was let go two years before his contract expired despite finishing third on the NRL point-scorer’s list in 2020 and the young half told The Sun Herald he was particularly frustrated with being dropped for Lachlan Lam mid-season at a time he believes he was playing well.

“It definitely [affected] my confidence during the year when I thought I was playing really well and I was the [competition’s] top points scorer, then I didn’t play two games out of nowhere,” Flanagan told The Sun-Herald.

“I look back now going, ‘What the hell was going on there?’

“I was pretty proud with how I responded to that and finished off the season.

“I remember [Robinson] saying to me, ‘You’re not playing poorly, we just want you to improve’.

“It was quite confusing. We were winning through that whole period there. I went back, trained hard, got back in the team and played well. I thought it was all part of the development.

“That was the most frustrating thing. I signed with the Roosters to grow and develop into the role over the next few years. Then to be told a year later that plan isn’t there any more, that was the hardest pill to swallow.”

The Roosters ultimately went out in straight sets in the finals due to a variety of factors, including a heavy injury toll that saw them fall short of their goal of a three-peat.

However Flanagan was made the scapegoat to some degree, despite the fact he was let go for a variety of reasons, including salary cap pressures and the need to sign a number of stars coming off contract, including James Tedesco, Luke Keary and the Morris brothers.
Further in the article, when discussing potential halves partners at the dogs, he says he likes Jake Averillo because ‘he’s a ball running half which compliments me’. That says it all to me.
