I have come in late, so nothing really new to add to this. I just think he turned out to be the wrong fit for our team and club. There were hints and rumblings throughout the season, so it is probably no real surprise.
My advice to Kyle is to just let it go and move on. Reputations can take years to build, but seconds to ruin.MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Anyone who thinks Kyle let the Roosters down is kidding themselves, he did his best but the Roosters coaching staff decided to move in another direction. Good luck Chooks, good luck Kyle.

I just read the other thread regarding Kyle but his shortcomings are there for all to see.
If I took my kid out every day and taught him rugby league skills, made him watch games with me and explained the game and the roles of players from a young age, if I made him do fitness geared towards becoming a rugby league player......if I was an influential coach and gave him the inside run to succeed at a junior level......??
Would I then create a first grade rugby league halfback?barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

The answer is clearly yes but would he actually be up to first grade standard on a consistent basis and be worthy of his hefty price tag?
That answer is a resounding NO.
You have to be a super naturally talented and gifted athlete to reach the top of first grade in an influential position. Hard work alone may get you a position in the back row or prop. But that’s it.
he was a lemon that was already squeezed dry.barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

But if there is a key for the 'manufactured' half, Bellamy appears to have found it. Cronk - he was an inside centre in schoolboy rugby as well as his FG debut, Munster and Jahrome Hughes started off as fullbacks before moving to the halves.
Say what you want about Bellyache, but even Gibbo and Bennett relied on natural superstar halves who were already made.

More to do with how they are coached one would say or what is coached out of them - footy is very structured so no place for players that play what's in front of them and ad lib footy - 3 or so hit ups then put on structured plays - out the back with blocks and decoys for tackles 4 and 5 and kick on the 6th.

Play what's in front and not structured footy - let the ball do the talking in attack.Last edited by King Salvo; 05-11-2021, 12:35 AM.

Well thought out responses guys.
I will say this Brucey. Craig Bellamy is a one of a kind. Amazing man. Brett Finch had talent but was erratic on and off the field at our club. Look what Bellamy did with him.
Craig only recruits certain types
Bellamy is very good mates with Sticky. Can’t imagine he would be tight with Shane.
So would Kyle fill the criteria that Craig would look for. It’s an interesting thought experiment.
By consensus I would say no.
I base this on two reasons
The fact that Dad might get involved and personality issues that may run off that
Craig recruits guys who have talent but are not achieving.
Does Kyle have the natural athleticism needed to play consistent first grade football? His defence would say he is not up to it and his lack of speed and power in his running is also questionablebarbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

Or Andrew John's commenting that the Roosters are mad for letting him go (WTF etc) and how he was better than other internationals at his current age bla bla bla!! They have gone silent, why because Kyle is one dimensional, passes on the inside and out, no flare or eyes up footy.

I think Andrew Johns probably knows a ton more about footy than I do.
I also think Andrew saw the skill level at a young age and was very impressed
What he didn’t bank on was the vast amount of hard work already done from a young age.
....the thought normally would be that if he can do that at age 20 what will he be like at age 25?
the reality is that he will probably be at that same level as compared to a kid has not been exposed to that level of rugby league pedigreebarbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

I think Flanagan is a casualty of the rule changes which probably do make it harder for a half who doesn’t have the speed, power or vision.
However he doesn’t have a big kicking game and needs to bulk up in defence.
He did a job for us, but where he is now It will be a thousand times more difficult with his limitations!
