  • I have 2 things to say regarding this thread.
Larry Long Balls( whoever he is) is a bloke I have no time for. He strikes me as pretty screwed up and needs help.........perhaps if he manages his personal issues we could be friends one day. At the moment his behaviour is repugnant

roosterchick...please don’t feel sorry for Kyle. He has 800,000 reasons over 3 years to come to grips with his personal shortcomings
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

    • Interesting that Flanagan got dropped for the 2 reasons it didn't work out for him at the Roosters- he doesn't know when to run with the ball so he doesn't, and he cant get his last play options right.

He certainly can throw a great pass and his defence is very good. I think his all round game will improve a lot with age and maturity. Good luck to him-he seems like a nice young fella

      • Now I read where he's getting "welfare counselling" cause he got dropped.

        Is this kid for real?

In the old days, you got dropped, you copped it sweet, you got on with it, you worked your way back into firsts.

Now they get counselling. How will these people ever deal with any real adversity, like watching loved ones die or coping with chronic illness or relationship breakdowns?

It boggles my mind how little resilience young people have these days. I was talking to a primary school teacher the other day and she was saying how kids have no resilience whatsoever. That they turn to water at the slightest issue.

What next, a welfare counsellor in the sheds in case you get sent to the sinbin?

Our current day education system has a lot to answer for. Students are either victims or sinners. Not much positivity or individual accountability.

Thats the Bulldogs bucket shop pushing that - trying to make out they are being proactive in dealing with his issues after throwing him to the wolves. I’m sure he hasn’t asked for a welfare counsellor.

I wish i didn’t reply to this thread as I’d been hoping it would die - why can’t we just leave the kid alone - who gives a shit really.

While I agree that people should have resilience as you say the issue with Kyle or anyone else for that matter is we never know whats going on behind closed doors or in there personal lives. The pressure may be internal or more a personal . Showing emotion isn't a sign of weakness . He should never have been put in that situation of being in a press conference after being dropped. He was on a hiding to nothing

                Well said 08.
Yes he is getting paid well and Yes he has a father who committed a sin and Yes his rugby league ability at this stage is limited. And some of you are precious that he had a go at the Roosters to the media after we released him. Get a grip.
The empathy shown is to the person. People deal with pressure differently and his emotion was towards the love and support his father has given him.
I have choked up when speaking about my parents or kids or wife. Just a natural reaction.
We have lost many rugby league players because of the mental strain behind the scenes that nobody has any idea about.
We talk about men's mental health and how we lose so many because they hold things in and don't speak up.
But some are happy to kick a kid down because he showed a bit of emotion when talking about his Dad.

Apparently he said something bad when he got dumped by Robbo and some can’t handle it. When people get sacked, made redundant or demoted, it’s common for them to be pissed off. Unless a person doesn’t give a shit, most wouldn’t be happy being rejected. To me Kyle looks like a good respectful kid who hasn’t grown enough to be able to cope with rejection and all happening in front of cameras. How many big boofy footy players cry like babies when they announce their retirement in front of the media?

                  • Well said 08, Buddy and Roc! He choked up because he was talking about his Dad! The media probably wouldn't even be talking to him if he had a father who wasn't a premiership winning coach. That's pressure in itself. As for those questioning why he's receiving 'welfare counselling', the bulldogs copped a tsunami of complaints in the media about the way they are treating him. Of course they're going to go out of their way now to ensure the media and rugby league public are aware he's receiving counselling, care. And even if he is receiving councelling, so what? It's more than counselling for being dropped. It would be counselling for having to deal with the fallout from all this crap - that is the media hanging on him to be dropped, then prying into his personal relationship with his father by asking leading questions in interviews, and then finally showing and headlining the resultant 'breakdown' multiple times on TV over the course of the next 3 days!

He's actually a little mini foxie.I couldn't decide whether to do a whole shot or close up of his face. I chose the close up in the end but you can't see all of his 'radar' ears which would be a big give away.

Hi Tom. Read my post again as I did not say that.

It's just a PR stunt the dogs are doing because as MR said, they copped a lot of criticism from the media. These days you can't be seen dishing out tough love otherwise the PC brigade get all riled up. I'm sure that Flanno Jnr would not have wanted that because it keeps his little meltdown on the news but the dogs being the dogs, are just prolonging Flannos embarrassment.

                              • I think Kyle just wants to make his parents mainly his dad proud & when the question came up that involved his dad he got emotional, I dont really have a problem with that.
