  • New jersey range launched soon - hope Castore don't ruin it

Long awaited 2021 jersey range to be launched 'soon' with new manufacturer Castore taking over from ISC

So far training tops/shorts have been released and has met some criticism of being boring/plain.

Storm are using Castore as well ths season and their jersey design/make is very suspect (looks like a soccer jersey). Word from that jersey is that the sizes are limited (for fans) and the material while 'good quality' looks like it could easily rip.

Geez that jersey is yuck! Absolutely reminds me of a soccer jersey.

Awesome - thanks for sharing! Looks fairly normal (which is good). The cut of the sleeve looks a little off though where it attaches to the back.

Otherwise the white V on jersey looks a little thicker maybe? Don’t mind that to mix it up but keep the jersey traditional enough.

Hoping for a new away jersey!

I’m glad they didn’t dare to touch our traditional home jersey... looks a little modernised and as pointed out the cut of the sleeve looks a tad off but otherwise looks pretty good..

I’m no fashion designer but as long as it’s red, white and blue and has our logo it’ll do me.

mmm come along way the jersey's - i have a few very old one's and one i won in a raffle - home game back in 1998 - two jerseys (1997) both signed - white and the traditional one -by the time i got to the place to pick one up the traditional one was the only one left - 3 quarter sleeve -cotton ,heavy with a collar and be hot to play in- still not bad for $5(cost of the ticket ).

Now the jersey's are made from polyester - i think the players one are made to measure for individual players.

There's a view that player kits should only be for players with different kits for the fans.

As per the Chooks site you can purchase all kit items the players wear( jersey/socks/shorts/training gear etc) - to quote Cricket again - the authentic baggy green is not sold as supporter merchandise you have to be selected in the 11 for a test to get one- unscrupulous characters are advertising "classic" baggy greens on ebay etc for as little as $10 though.

I know merchandise sales are a big revenue raiser especially overseas although in the MLB under their licensing agreement they split the profits in merchandise sales evenly amongst all the teams - same for broadcast and sponsorship revenue- same for NFL/Basketball/Hockey

Do NRL teams receive any payment from the sale of merchandise for their club from sports stores/supermarkets/other areas etc or only from merchandise sales made through the clubs store? -Maybe the NRL receive these as royalty payments as part of the licensing arrangement only ?

It looks good .You can tell its a Roosters Jersey straight away unlike some teams who you wouldn't have a clue who's team it is

Back in the day kids would have killed for a Tricolour strip. You couldn't buy them and the only ones on display down the park were from an older brother/neighbour who might have played junior rep, on guys whose school team might have won their weight grade in the annual knockout comp or there were the old bars from Easts Rugby or Cranbrook. Even playing for the Clovelly Crocs didn't get you one, their strip was red and white. There is something about poorer times that sharpens one's appreciation of things.
While on the subject where is the imagination in colour choice? Who decides? The old goose who's been on the District Board since whenever? Three teams in the NRL have blue and gold of slightly different hues - Parra, The Cowgirls and the Titans - I mean WTF. The 'Riff kicked orf wiv brown and white - was never a goer, maybe add red but anyway. Their present choice is also execrable but at least those dry glow colours are quintessentially westie so we know where they're coming from. The Storm? Who ever thought navy blue and purple would work? No one and they don't. Lime green, yellow, white and blue? Give us a break. I'm no fan of NFL but a cursory survey of their colours throws up some very smart combos - red white and tan/gold for instance. Of course the RWB wins the prize in any code.

Not sure what the Riff were thinking with that Soccer style brown and white jersey in the earrly 70's - mmm how many brown and white panthers are there ? none- from chocolate soldiers to liquorice allsorts to all black mostly for home jumpers- Pink Panthers sometimes too- Different blues though for Parra/Tits/Cows

I was actually at that game when Manly beat Penrith 70-7 in 1973 at Penrith Pasrk- My Father was a Penrith Supporter and also St Kilda - both were always at or near the bottom of their respective ladders - Actually Penrith i recall led 7-0 at one stage in that game.

i thought you were both old enough to realise that brown was a pretty snazzy colour back in ‘67.

No we had one of these plastic covers to "convert" a black and white TV into Colour- Old Star Trek episodes are even back on TV and on SBS they are showing Kolchak -The Night Stalker too from the B &W Days although they are in Colour

I mentioned to the vermin supporters on league unlimited that they have won only 1 comp and been in 1 GF since colour tv was introduced (1975 i recall)- B&W one's don't count- Chooks have been in 10 for 5 wins- they the verms are in our shadow

The shirt is red, white and blue. Good enough for me.

[QUOTE=Thirteen; I think The King and Paddo should get a room.

Nostagia 13. You'll be here one day God willing (been watching Fauda on Netflix. Interesting. The politics and intrigues over there are somethin' else. But I digress...). The boys these days don't know what they're missing - shorts, heavy enough for a start with hip pads to add to the weight of the heavy cotton jerseys complete with long sleeves, collars and buttons. Boots, leather and universally black covered the ankles (you could almost go fly fishin' in 'em) but the new aluminium studs replacing the older leather ones took off a few ounces (sorry, grams). Woollen socks completed the ensemble so on a wet track you had the job ahead. Couldn't ever have been a 10m with that load on. And then the war came - WW1.
But toil on we did with the thought of handing glimpses of guys sloggin' up and down a wet Waverley oval in suits of cotton armour and other "had to be there" moments on to you ungrateful bastards.
The King and I ( remember Alfie Langer's Roy and HG name? One of the funniest things ever was Alfie, after being presented with an Origin MOM, sent a cheerio to " Me bruvver and all the boys at Boggo Road"- ah....Rugby League). But I digress.....The KIng and I are the living record, sort of like Platypuse. The King's knowledge is encyclopaedic, I'd forgotten that 70-7 rout, they've certainly come a long way but they beat Easts on their first ever first division game at the Sports Ground in the late 60s. They had a few Easts good 'uns - Bobby Landers was one. Again, too, 62 - 8 ain't far off.
