  • Cords out apparently

    According to that bald headed flop hooper he reckons cords will be officially ruled out for up to 12 weeks and we are trying to get 350K for it... well how much footy has this guy missed in the last 2-3 seasons man. Very sad

    New head knock or just the previous history of head knocks or something else?

      I’m guessing that last concussion he suffered in origin has set him back a while.

        That's been the plan for a while and why I said he wont be playing origin. Can't have 12 weeks off and then go straight to Origin.

          Its not just your bald flop who is saying it, Ive heard it on other media as well.
          The Roosters have said nothing but I have a feeling what is being reported is right.

            Nah I think what being reported is right too clearly, but hooper is just a bald headed flop either way hahah

              Blast it as Cords was one of the goal kickers in contention too i heard - He doesn't need to rush back - others have to step up now and show the same determination- That will mean Friendly and I assume Tedesco will be co-captains

              Apparently the Chooks have formerly applied for representative Salary Cap relief of 350k for Cords

              https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/02/01/...engthy-layoff/

              Being out for at least 12 weeks do they go externally to sign someone or promote internally ? - the replacement needs to be a second rower - 350 k to spend - note below including "A player can’t have had a pre-existing injury to the one which he has been ruled out for" - mmm will they deem he has had a few of these concussions and maybe this one is a result of a pre-existing injury- concussion being an injury

              A player must miss at least 12 weeks for the injury to be defined as a long-term one.

              • A dollar for dollar salary cap exemption compared to the injury players value up to $350,000;
              • The exemption allowable will be based on the number of rounds remaining in the regular season;
              • Incoming players must be contracted for the rest of the season;
              • Replacement players must be like for like (for example, a hooker can only be replaced by another hooker);
              • Contracts cannot be front loaded — meaning there cannot be a significantly higher value in year one compared to year two;
              A player can’t have had a pre-existing injury to the one which he has been ruled out for;
              • If the club has filled its entire 30-man roster, they can sign a 31st player but the injured player must be stood down for the rest of the year;
              • This is uncapped meaning clubs could replace multiple players if more than one is injured during a representative game.

              Players injured after June 30 in a rep game i.e SOO

              In addition, the NRL’s transfer deadline is June 30 so clubs are expected to either promote a development player or recruit from Super League, the second-tier NSW Intrust Super Premiership and Queensland’s Intrust Super Cup competitions or rugby union.

                Massive loss, however I'm glad we are taking this stance.
                Hopefully the NRL see it as 'in the best interest of the players and the game' and allow some salary cap relief. Then other clubs may follow suit - level the playing field a little.

                  It’s bad news for the team but Boyd really needs to put his health first. I still for the life of me don’t understand why he even played Origin last year. He should have stood down then and come back fresh for us this season.

                        How about this great line from the Michael Chammas article on this:

                        ”The NRL is aware of a growing perception among some clubs of favouritism towards the Roosters, but won’t shy away from applying the rule.”

                          Medical retirement pending,
                          boyds played his career like a warrior- like those blokes from across the ditch should play like.

                          He has nothing left to prove but plenty left to enjoy.

                          I don't know, and don't want to wait to see if it's his knees or brain that goes first.

                          Boyd - Out
                          Gus - Re-sign

                          Gus = 2022 Captain (Roosters / S.O.O)

                              After close to 4 months off is Cordner is still having issues from concussions then the extra 12 weeks wont make a difference- he should call it quits. If he would be ok for round 1 and the 12 weeks is just precautionary then thats a different story.

                              In the end he has won 3 premierships- 2 as captain, captained NSW to 2 state of origin wins and captained Australia. He is already a true Roosters living legend. Theres nothing left for him to prove
