he's gone overboard defending burgess. just cos something appears in a paper owned by murdoch doesn't mean it's wrong. burgess has a legitimate claim on his kids but that doesn't excuse some of his uncontested behaviour. even though burgess might think he's in the right he'd probably do best to cut his losses and move on.

I dunno his politics but agreed on your Burgess point. Having gone through a divorce which led to my ex running off to Japan with our daughter, re-marrying within months and doing her best to deny all access... I get it.

That said, Burgess' behaviour reeks of entitlement. This includes:
- Drug-fuelled binges while she was pregnant.
- Hitting on other women while she was pregnant.
- Stalking Billy Smith.
- Chugging 4 schooies before his visitation and then threatening to punch a 65 year old man while the kids were watching.

Won't go into too much detail but my first visitation in Japan involved:
- Waiting for 2 hours (past the set time) at a deserted train station while armed cops (called in by my ex) surrounded the place and kept spying on my mother and I.
- My lawyer having to talk to her step dad, who kept (for no reason) saying he was scared I was gonna punch him (we'd literally never met).
- Finally they arrived and the step-dad had trained my daughter to run away, crying that she didn't want me (the fakeness and BS about it all was very distressing)
- Finally they came back and the step-dad told my mum she had to go & that he insisted on 'supervising' (neither were in the court order but we agreed just to get SOME access).
- The step-dad aggressively sat in between us, leaned over all our conversations (had to be in Japanese), coldfaced me and regularly said 'wait a minute' then came back with lollies and stuff to bribe my daughter.
- The above visitation cost my mother and I something like $50,000. We are not rich.
- Due to COVID we get jack shyte now as there's no travel.

I'm significantly bigger than the step-dad and my Japanese is good, but not native level fluency. I'm on their turf the whole time and have just gotta be patient for my daughter's benefit. They want me to slip up and be aggressive so that they can go running to the police/courts with claims I'm a liability. You can't slip up for that reason!

All I can say is that Burgess went through nothing like that level of trauma and still slipped up. No way I'm calling him a tough man! He got shared custody by default despite his drug binges (no international court battle), everything was in English, his resources are essentially unlimited (no financial hit at all) and all he had to do was drive his $$$ Bentley down to the southern highlands to have a lovely time with his kids (in a private, $$$ mansion). Not hard!

I'd probably be banned from Japan and lose all access to my daughter if I went around screaming swear words at a Japanese dude (at a public station) and threatening to smash people (dare I say, Burgess is also in a foreign country and has no respect for what could happen if he's a douche! He is a visitor and could get banned for violent crimes/character issues...etc). Disputes of this nature are a long game and the 'tough guys' learn to grit their teeth throughout for the benefit of their kids. I don't care one bit about Burge-arse but for the sake of his kids, I hope he can grow up and learn how to behave during visitations. You just can't have verbal slugfests in front of your kids. Thank your ex's parents for the opportunity, cherish the moments you're given and keep gently fighting for more access through the proper means.

I feel ya....yours is a shocker of a case Ism - unremittingly sad and you've shown enormous fortitude and determination in circumstances where others would have given up. We can't compare these family situations, someone is always devastated but, commonly, the party wanting out moves on with little discernible grief and disruption, they've long since come to terms with things and most want the often surprised and dismayed partner gone (permanently if possible). I recall, back in the day, a newsagent in Clovelly with kids and a hot wife topped himself after their break up. She didn't seem to miss a beat - still down at Les Motto's gym every second day.
On the other hand, those far less able to cope often give in to their fragile egos with tragic results and we read about those cases far too often.
Burgess' F-I-L wants him gone completely - an embarrassment to the Squatter- cratic name. They're their kids now and, clearly, he's played a major role in planning that. These people can't be trusted to pay people fairly ffs and they won't pay tax. It's all about them and most have inherited wealth. If you're a working guy they ain't your friends.

I agree with the two sides of politics, I have friends that are obsessive with commenting on politics and from both sides. But they will always be my friends because of who they are.
Most people I know, despite which side they may vote for, don't post endlessly about politics, they have other more important things in their lives.
Come here continually fly the red flag when its irrelevant and push a pro souffs stance. its no longer funny nor amusing. Blocking seems to be a good idea, I am sure he will count it as a win but I have things like family, RL and job to pay more attention to

"Endlessly" is a stretch and most people don't post cos they don't know much, there's precious little objective reporting in the MSM.
We got our own little group of Proud Boys on here but the thumbs up that I get tell me that so far they're not in the majority. Besides there are young people in the Pen who need help to see through the "How good is Scomo and Glad" but no mention that the kids' impermanent working conditions and and already low wages are being steadily white anted. Our resident "conservationist/patriot" '08 tells us that his and his family's best interests are served by a Corporate entity which has no environmental policy whatsoever. Anyway this is clearly not a footy thread its a bag Souffs fest and that's cool, I'm hip to that. I get laughs now and then and I love the Club rivalry, always have but I can't share the hate. At whom is it directed anyway? Not at Gus, Keary, the new bloke or Ronny Coote. Not at Fletch who crossed Anzac Parade to help out in their lean years nor at Jimmy Morgan whom Souths, seemingly inadvertently, transferred to Easts in the late 60s and turned out the one of our best ever Props. Nah, this is where our muddle headed Proud Boys come to the fore - other working people are scum and indigenes are bludgers and whingers who need to get over it no matter how devastating and cruel the "IT" has been and continues to be. While workers get squeezed, public utilities privatised, trickle down fails once again and the greedy super rich stoop to Casino money laundering and partnerships with organised crime, these guys make up a cheer squad. From what we could work out is was a guerrilla marketing ploy by the beer company to get people to try the beer, a bit like the Pepsi challenge. Over the next few months we charted the progression of sales and overall popularity of the rival beer and we concluded the method worked.
