      You said Jehovah...thwack!

Shhh....don't say cancel culture, some people don't like it. I mean they do like it, but don't like people who don't like it. I think.

      So shhh.

One might remember that David Pocock was given a stern warning about his environmental activism. FWIW he actually has a constitutional right (of political communication) whereas anti-discrimination legislation is not a 'right', it's a shield against discrimination.

Neither of the above are swords though! They're shields. For example the government can't make a law that shuts down the Greens and churches. You're allowed to go to church or your greenie group. However... you don't have a sword whereby you can go around being a d!ckhead then say 'I am immune from all criticism because this is a political/religious belief'.

The NRL operates within the corporate world. To be neutral... we want both coal/steel companies and (for example) Qantas//Telstra/St George (the bank) to be onboard with corporate $$$. Just like how executives within a big corporate are bound by their company's official line on anything controversial... NRL players get media training so that they can further the sport in a positive/productive way.

No player is above the game. We literally have NFI what Teddy, Tupou, Morris x 2, Manu and Suaalii think about gays and coal companies. I'm happy to keep it that way! Easts have already made the strategic decision to sign Teddy (who's probably a Roman Catholic?) It's not discrimination for us to have made that commercial decision. As noted... anti-discrimination legislation isn't a sword whereby Izzy can go around asking clubs if they're interested, then suing them when they say 'actually no... we've decided to extend Tedesco/Ponga/Papenheuzen...etc's contract instead, independently of your request'.

For those worried about his wellbeing... just like David Pocock... Izzy' doing just fine financially! You need not worry about his welfare. He's a multi-millionaire who has a job paying what, $1m a year? Nobody's banned him from working.
            well put together commentary mate!

Then in year 8 and onwards it all changed- Grey Levi Jeans / Shirts could be short or long sleeve / School maroon and yellow jumper / any coloured socks and dessert boots- no tie or blazer - Girls had a new Uniform and could wear sandals with or without socks - JC sandals I think they were called.- sport clothes the same and you brought them to school and changed into them.

There’s a lot more in this post than what it seems.

It shows for that generation, things were mostly the same for the majority. People wore the same clothes, had the same possessions and were mostly homogeneous because there wasn’t much to choose from. Then as time went on, we had more choice and greater freedom to be different.

These days it’s much different but old habits die hard. Change or nostalgia about the way it was in our formative years can be difficult to resurrect. Which is the same as the ancient manuscripts that are followed to this day. They were useful before there was general order and governing powers but they are largely redundant as the law of land overrules.

We can’t wind back time and while not all progress is for our better, for the most part it is.
                ..it’ll be interesting to see

Not necessarily Zac . It's about freedom of expression and the resultant disproportionate ostracisation of the bloke . Not an izzy fan per se , but their are a lot worse than him getting away with a lot more. Up the chooks !

                    • Good read ISM.
I like the idea of free thought but responsible speech (and action)
Free Speech is an over used term used by people that want to go around thrusting their opinions on people.

I also wonder if more than not the media makes things alot worse than they really are

It’s interesting how we must love all the groups so filled with hate towards anyone with a differing opinion.

Agreed... it’s one totally messed up world.

There is a contradiction in America of course - down South they do have a lot of Civil War Confederacy statues of their Generals and Politicians of the time and love to fly the Confederate flag - a lot equate these to slave ownership and the war being about the right to own slaves - more to that War than just one issue as the North were fighting mainly to preserve the Union after the 11 Southern States seceded from the Union and the Southern States were fighting for state rights.

A lot of the US founding fathers as they call them owned slaves - George Washington / John Hancock/ Thomas Jefferson for instance and other US presidents as well right up to the early 1850's - Zac Taylor

A majority of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and nearly half of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention owned slaves. Four of the first five presidents of the United States were slaveowners.

Thomas Jefferson the same man who wrote the very words “all men are created equal,” in the Declaration of Independence owned hundreds of slaves all his life.

When Washington died he freed all his slaves in his will so i suppose he may be forgiven nowadays somewhat?

There is still slavery today in different parts of the world -they call it debt bondage / forced labour/sweat shops etc.
