Under NRL rules regarding injuries in representative matches the player has to be out for a minimum of 12 weeks for the club to receive this cap relief- clubs with players stood down - no fault rule or whatever it's called are also eligible for cap relief but on a case by case basis.

Players with pre-existing injuries don't qualify and this is one area i was thinking that it might come under closer scrutiny for eligibility. - Concussions would be deemed as injuries i assume - It would send the wrong message though in terms of the need of the NRL and Clubs to take concussions seriously and stand down players.

Footy is a tough game & blokes are going to get hurt & they all know that, I wouldnt be giving any club compensation for a player that gets injured playing rep footy. Every player wants to play rep footy even if they are going to get injured. The Roosters have enough backrowers to cover for Boyd for 12 weeks so lets give them a run & see how they go.

Doesn’t every player if picked have to play origin unless they are injured? Not that many would say no(I think Jamie Lyon did refuse to play for the blues)
I don’t think clubs can stop a player from playing if picked, I think it’s fair enough they get compensated considering they have no control of the player while away.

i reckon the nrl will approve it. if they did it would go v the current mood that the game has to handle head knocks better and leave them open to possible legal action

It was a very good and insightful article, I must say. It was quite inspiring to see our club and how it is handling the situation. Makes one very proud to be a Rooster, that's for sure.

Informative yes however but all Webster has done is cut and paste with a slight tweak in his published article. The club obviously gave him the scoop and in a written form.
