Predictable worse fear ..Manu

You would have two Centres playing fullback if Manu does leave to play fullback for the Warriors - Not Sold on Manu or Mitchell as fullbacks myself having made their names as centres. It used to be that future fullbacks would start their first grade careers on the wing before moving to fullback once they found their feet. -Ditto for Centre's.

Not sure how many players have moved from being an established centre to play fullback and have been successful long term - Maybe some can come up with some names apart from Inglis although many thought he was a better Centre than Fullback.

Last I heard was that Drinkwater from the Cows and Hughes from the Storm are players the Warriors are looking at for the Fullback role in 2022. Apparently they have over 1 mill to spend on 2022.

I have no issue on a player saying he would rather play fullback!!! If you play for the love of the game, fullback is one of the best positions.... you get to touch the ball so many times and are involved in every play virtually either in defence or attack!
Centre is possibly one of the most boring positions especially when the second rowers get in the way.
If there is an opportunity to play fullback and even get paid more money, surely that’s worth consideration especially after already winning premierships etc like Latrell or Joey have!
I even think Latrell went more for the chance to play fullback than the money, even though he has always openly said he wants to earn as as much as possible and retire young! So to get possibly both options is hard to argue with!

I have no problem with the Roosters getting young Kiwi's when they are 14 or 15 then developing them hanging onto them till they are in their mid 20's & then losing them. All 16 clubs are in the same position you take a punt on a young guy & you wait & see what happens.

I’m not judging whether he can succeed or not at fullback.. just saying that as a player, I would rather fullback than centre if my physical attributes could make it work!
I’m not sure Joey could make it but why wouldn’t you try if you had the chance and a team was willing to back you and pay a considerably more... especially if you had won a title or two already!
Nothing to lose really.. except more money for your retirement!!!

Latrell in a different era would make a pretty good fullback... but the modern fullback just demands so much more than just a spark now and again... watching this all star game now and I don’t think he has developed as a fullback since this time last year... still just as uninvolved.

Be a big loss , Joey. Great player - seems to find another gear when finals come around as well. He seems like a really good guy. I wouldn’t bag him if he left at the end of this contract because other clubs were throwing more money at him and wanting him to play fullback. I don’t think that makes him disloyal or worthy of criticism. Enjoy him whilst he is with us he has been a loyal and great servant. Dont hate him because there are other teams that want him. He doesn’t deserve our vitriol he deserves our thanks. And he is still with us and may still be with us next contract as well - who knows.

Just read that Manu would entertain offers from 2023 onwards if they can offer him the fullback position
