  • Predictable worse fear ..Manu

Damn thanks to farknuckle RTS Warriors are after Manu to play fullback.
Always new this day would come and even mentioned it a week ago.
    Love this bloke .
    I hope we can prevail.
If the boy is home sick and that would be the only reason he leaves.
Signing Chrighton from Penriff and Staggs would be on the cards.

Saw this coming too - if they offer him the fullback role we won't be able to compete salary wise. It seems that he loves and appreciates our club but hard to knock back more money and to move back home - can't blame him.

He isn't off contract til the end of next year, so unless we released him early that would leave the warriors without a fullback for a year. He may be on their list but depending on what other options are available for next year, they may choose to go with someone who can transfer sooner - and perhaps a more established fullback as Manu as he has shown potential for that role but is still a risk if that is what they buy him for.

But like RTS will he play for no premierships ?

How about the worriers go after Latrell? Now that would be something.

Met Manu’s whole family at the 2019 grand final at the club, they all came over from NZ to watch him.

no surprise if he does go, and it seems pretty predictable.

good timing to get latrell back

Very true, it would be the trade off. Hard for him to knock back a pay rise and being closer to family/friends on the other hand - I suppose from his perspective he may think he has one two premierships and that is ticked off his list?

He seems like a hard worker and level headed guy though - I'm sure unlike some other past centre wanna be fullbacks (cough cough) he will handle any offer with a little more respect and class. Maybe as tempting as the offer will be (if he does get one) he will decide to stick with the club that turned him into the player he is and wants to keep winning.

It looks like for the next two years it will be important to develop or purchase a few outside backs with the Morris Bros leaving - big seasons to step up for B Smith and Suaallii to make their claim when they are able to.

The new Brisbane team which I think will go ahead in 2023 (NRL seem very keen to go ahead) will be another concern for player poaching.

He’s got two... maybe that’s enough??? An extra say $300k give or take is pretty bloody good over a few years... especially invested and compounded post footy!

Id hate to see him go but such is life!!

Could get Gus in his ear - I don't think Latrell would do will well over away from Taree though - and definitely doesn't seem like the type of bloke that could put up with the situation the warriors did last year and this this year. If he went there could definitely see a shock early SBW type of walk out.

Gee whiz I never hated the Warriors especially after last season but this is really frustrating they couldn’t develop a clown for a circus act, this is coming back to bite us again we can’t compete hopefully Manu can see that he won’t be playing for premierships over there, however, the idea of living with family and increased salary, it’s just a hopeless situation for us.

I don't think Manu would be a huge loss

i hope he stays but if he wants to play fullback he'll leave. up to him. if he does leave the warriors would want him for next season which puts us in the good position of only letting him go if we get someone else.

It's the catch 22 of developing talented centres and wingers who have the skill to fill in at fullback - we love to have that type of player and depth in our team but there is less money staying at centre and the more potential they have, the more likely they are to be tempted to leave for a full time fullback gig (most likely at struggling club who are willing to give them a shot and pay them well).

Same challenge as we'll have with Suaallii if he does live up to the hype - ideally we'd all want him to become a star for us ASAP but this will also accelerate his worth and the amount of rivals (or overseas Union) offering to play him fullback $$$ when we still have Teddy

He seems to have a good relationship with our club, coaches and Uncle Nick - I would think if he had a great opportunity to go home to NZ and earn more but only if he could play next year (and that he was upfront and respectful about the situation) - our club would consider releasing him out of goodwill.

I think as a centre they would be more open to this then say he was Keary or Teddy or a key forward.

Another thing to consider is the salary cap - him leaving may actually work for their plans (or it may not, I have no idea). Could be like a Jennings situation of letting him go early, frees up space for other areas etc
