  • Let us sign ......

Leilani Latu, released by Warrington, plays prop and very cheap and could add decent depth where we need it most. Makes more sense than Benji and Filaou .

    were his parents racing fans?

would be a great signing for the right price. playing with a few other tongan boys might be attractive for him

Latu hasn't played a decent game since leaving Penrith in 2017. It doesn't sound like the Roosters have got anything left in the salary cap anyway

They have 2 spots left to fill in the 30 player squad and 2 in the development contract space - with 350k Salary cap relief for Cords they can only sign a like for like player or promote internally a backrower (2nd rower)

I would say a big No - He would be best off to give the game away.

When we are approved Cordner's 350k we need to spend it on someone this year - it cannot go towards topping up existing contracts

I would say yes to Leilani but I am biased as I know him and coached him when he was under 10’s.

We need an Aiden Tolman type toiler. Runs hard, makes his tackles, great experience. And if he could kick goals at 80% that would be a bonus.

the 350k would need to used on signing or a promoting a like for like player - a backrower - cant sign a prop/back

But had Cordner being available we could’ve played Angus at middle and moved Liu to prop rotation, in the absence of Cordner we need Angus at 2nd row thus can’t use Liu at prop, this entitled us to use the funds to sign Latu.
Latu has had few injuries , as the article states, and hopefully with some decent training and support he can fill that little void we have in our prop rotation.

It's a shame he never had a good coach his whole professional career, seemed like a great prospect at the dogs
