Just when one feels that all is lost
    steakface comes to the rescue

most disappointing for mine......by far Finchy.
he could have been awesome. We could have won two more comps. But he couldn’t save himself from himself. Still can’t.

Yeh they decided to change the date from January to December hence 2 Australian Open's in 1977 (Jan and December). In 1986 there was no Australian Open held due to the date change from December 86 back to January 87 as a lot of overseas players stopped coming.

As you were saying Chrissy O'Neil won last in 1978 and pocketed 32k (2021 - first round losers pocket 100k 3rd Round Qualifying -52.5K 2nd Round Qualifying 35K and 1st Round Qualifying 25K).

This years singles winners will pocket a COVID-19 adjusted 2.75 Million (Down from 4.11 Million ) lowest since 2014. Doubles 600k ( down from 760k) and Mixed Doubles 150k (down from 190k)

Tennis Australia had to borrow 60 or more million to run this - 80 million spent just on quarantine /accommodation/meals/charter flights etc - limited attendance and now no attendance at all and a discount for the broadcaster as well.

          Kurt Sherlock.

Couldn’t kick further then 30 metres and his bombs went 10 metres in the air.
Elementary Thirteen as Dr Watson recall's him kicking better than that and he was a fair player as well although Moriarty wouldn't agree with that.

Toddy was a good player / played above his ability and weight. But he should have put that ball on the toe deep and turned it into a longer race / Satler only got him because Todd stumbles a bit early on and looses momentum and Satler had a deceptive angle on him that makes it look worse. Satler was not quicker than Byrne - if he makes that chase 30 meters longer Satler doesn’t stay with him.

That bombed try against the Bulldogs at the SFS where he failed to pass the ball to Gary Freeman or Steve Robinson just on half time haunts me til this day!
And another time against the Bulldogs at Belmore when we made a great come back and we were right on their line centre field with huge momentum in the dying minutes and a try would have won us the game and he knocks on at dummy half.

The Penrith winger ankle tapped him which made him stumble lose momentum I spoke to Todd about this 6 months later the effort to stay on his feet after the ankle tap used up most of his energy all he could do was run in a straight line and see how far he could go

Mitch 'Why the long face' Frei should be in before FPN for sure. He was worse then terrible!

                        That bombed try was shocking.

He did chip over the top and regather to set up a classic try against the Broncos at Lang Park in 1991. We went on to win the match.

Sam Obst had a good career over in the UK, was too small for NRL but never really given a chance, he joined from Redcliffe with Mick Croker and looked the better player

I remember Chris Beattie made a break one game running backwards, first time he ever threatened the line

Eric Grothe could of been a good buy, was coming off a major injury and couldn't break into the team.....went back to the Eels and won Winger of the Year that season

Charles Tonga was great for 1 hit up per game....if he caught it
